Missouri Stream Team program is a network of citizens who are concerned about <br />Missouri Streams. Stream Team members are involved in education, stewardship, and <br />advocacy on behalf of Missouri streams, participating in activities such as water quality <br />monitoring, stream clean-ups, tree planting, and more. Membership is free to any <br />interested citizen, family or organization. The program is sponsored by the Missouri <br />Department of Conservation and the Missouri Department of Natural Resources. For <br />clean-up events, the MDNR provides free trash bags and work gloves. Two <br />programs came out this week you may want to consider. In response to the concerns <br />raised by the shootings in Kirkwood, the City of Maryland Heights has contracted with a <br />Tactical <br />firm to offer a 4-hour training program for elected and appointed officials on <br />Communications <br />. The program will cover a variety of techniques to avoid and diffuse <br />verbal confrontations. The program will be held on Friday, April 18, from 8:00 AM to <br />noon at the Maryland Heights Council Chambers. City employees with significant citizen <br />contact will be attending this session: inspectors, receptionists, court personnel. The <br />vendor, The Verbal Judo Institute, has offered a similar course for police officers for <br />many years. The City of Maryland Heights realized they have room for approximately 50 <br />non-Maryland Heights attendees and they are making space available for $50 per <br />attendee. If you are interested in attending please let me know by April 15. There will be <br />a session available for elected officials on the evening of April 17, at 6:00 PM. Dinner <br />will be served at 5:30 PM, the evening session is $60 per person. <br />Also, David Leezer of the St. Louis County Economic Council forwarded the below <br />information regarding an upcoming conference. I am not familiar with the conference, <br />The Council of Development Finance <br />but I thought you might find it interesting. <br />Authorities (CDFA) <br /> will be holding its annual meeting this year in St. Louis from April <br />29 through May 1 at the Hyatt Regency. The St. Louis County Economic Council is <br />serving as the host for this event. This year’s program is regarded as one of the <br />substantive events CDFA has ever hosted.
