Volunteer Corner <br />As you know, U City is all about its great citizens and their participation in our <br />community. Here are some great volunteer opportunities; some are long term, some <br />short term. Did you know that volunteering makes people happier? So, let’s keep U <br />City the great place it is: volunteer a bit of your time to: <br /> <br />- Currently, Brittany <br />University City School District Libraries <br /> <br />Woods Middle School Library needs assistance weeding their library of <br />outdated books and other reading materials. This is an important <br />project in all schools and this month is Brittany Woods’ turn! So for a couple week lend <br />a hand to the School District, the kids are counting on us. Contact Kelly Wertmuller at <br />kwertmuller@ucity,k12.mo.us Weeding begin the last two weeks of June. <br /> <br />The Green <br />The Green Center: Care for Your Community <br /> ! <br /> <br /> <br />Center has volunteer opportunities to suit all interests, whether <br />you prefer indoor or outdoor work. At present, we are looking for <br />individuals willing to organize our archives, assist with marketing or community <br />outreach, and serve as Volunteer Educators during our summer youth <br />programming. Restoration activities, including invasive species removal, native <br />plant propagation, weeding, and watering occur throughout the year. Volunteers <br />of all ages and abilities are always appreciated at The Green Center! The plants now need water during the long hot <br />summer, unless it rains--like it is today! So give us a hand in making our City gorgeous <br />and the envy of all the other cities around us. They so enjoy the company and <br />you’ll make nice friends along the way. City Employees can use their wellness hours to <br />volunteer for this activity.
