To: Honorable Mayor Adams and City Council <br />From: Julie Feier, City Manager <br />Date: August 25, 2008 <br />Subject: City Manager’s Report <br />1. Renee’s Liquor License: <br /> Renee’s at 6621 Vernon, a new business is <br />requesting a liquor license to sell all kinds of intoxicating liquor at retail by the drink. A <br />background check revealed no disqualifying information. The Chief of Police <br />recommends approval. <br />2. Marketing Proposal for Recycling: <br /> Council requested a budget for a public <br />education program to increase recycling participation. The estimated cost for the <br />citywide recycling public education campaign <br />recommended is about $43,000. If <br />we proceed with door hangers to non-recyclers and develop posters for the bus shelters <br />and metro locations, a total of about $20,000 would be needed if girl scouts and/or boy <br />scouts provide assistance. If they were unable to assist, the cost would be higher. Staff <br />needs direction as to how to proceed and your interest in amending the budget, at what <br />level. <br />3. Etzel Alley Proposal: <br />Public Works provided an assessment in response to the <br />cart collection in the Etzel Alley <br />citizen request regarding . Both the current data <br />considering the purchase of a new truck with route configuration adjustments and the <br />previous assessment from 2006 are attached. Staff needs direction as to if and when <br />you would like to make a transition and how you wish to accommodate the budget <br />amendment. <br />42009 Meeting Calendar: <br />.Please review the attached City Meeting schedule for <br />2009 for inclusion in the printing of the City Calendar. May 14 and 21 are in bold as <br />Council Meetings which will be identified as Budget Work Sessions. <br /> <br />
