The article by Petree Eastman provides an excellent historical perspective <br />on the City’s cutting edge planning techniques that aided the Loop’s transformation over <br />the years. West Seattle, Washington <br /> <br />In response to the Kirkwood Tragedy, the City of Kirkwood and Des Peres are jointly <br />benefit for the families of the fallen <br />sponsoring a . The evening of Saturday, <br />September 27 will include heavy hors’ oeuvres’, music and an auction. Tickets to the <br />event are $75 per person. Additional information is attached. <br /> <br />The University City Public Librarymajor Library Services and <br /> recently received two <br />Technology Act (LSTA) grants <br /> from the Missouri State Library. The first benefits the <br />entire Consortium by upgrading two major servers one supporting their automation <br />system and the other the on-line catalog. This grant was for $24,843. A second LSTA <br />grant, for $18,215, will help fund the replacement of all the public access computers in <br />the Library’s Youth Services Department. In addition, this grant will allow them to begin <br />offering “self-check” technology. Patrons will be able to check out their own materials <br />on the second floor of the library. If patrons like this service, they hope to expand it in <br />the future as an option at the main Circulation Desk. <br /> <br />
