Council Agenda Item Cover <br />___________________________________________________________ <br />MEETING DATE: <br /> October 6, 2008 <br />AGENDA ITEM TITLE: <br /> 64 and 96 Gallon Single Stream Recycling Containers <br />AGENDA SECTION: <br /> Consent <br />CAN THIS ITEM BE RESCHEDULED? : <br />Yes <br />BACKGROUND REVIEW: <br />Recycling carts are needed to expand the Single Stream <br />Recycling Program, including larger carts. A grant of $90,000 will cover 100% of the <br />equipment costs with no need for City matching funds. The City specified 60-66 <br />gallon and 90-96 gallon containers, with the larger sized carts being delivered to <br />residents requesting a larger recycling cart and to participating commercial properties <br />requiring a larger cart. No Bid No Bid No Bid No Bid <br />Armor provided the best value bids of $47.44 for the 64 gallon carts and $55.86 for <br />the 96 gallon carts. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />It is our recommendation to accept the responsive bid <br />submitted by Armor Equipment in the total amount of $77,167.The City will use the <br />remaining grant funds of $12,833 to order additional 96 gallon carts and for recycling <br />educational information. <br /> <br />
