Resolution 2008 – 13 Amending Fiscal Year 2008 budget for the City of
University City and appropriating said amounts.
Mr. Glickert moved to approve, seconded by Mr. Wagner and was approved
unanimously.
2. Resolution 2008 – 14 Supporting Proposition H to provide an interoperable
emergency radio system for all first responders in St. Louis County.
This resolution would help fund an Inner-able-operator system so all communities
could respond to each other by radio communication. This is a Federal mandate.
Mr. Wagner moved to accept, seconded by Mr. Price and was approved
unanimously.
Mayor Adams stated that the St. Louis Municipal League has asked each
municipality to donate some funds to help educate the St. Louis County
constituents on Proposition H. Mayor Adams proposed the amount of $6,000 be
donated for this fund. Mr. Crow moved for approval, seconded by Mr. Sharpe, Jr.
and was approved unanimously.
K. CITIZENS’ COMMENTS
Ted Slegesky, 7430 Melrose
Mr. Slegesky is the chairman of the Urban Forestry Commission. He wanted to
publicize that 50 trees are available for the citizens to pick up to plant in the tree
lawn. On November 15, Mr. Crow, the City’s forester, will be conducting a seminar
on how to plant and care for a tree and also to answer any other questions.
Bay Tire, 116 East Osage St.
Ms. Donna Bay, owner of Bay Tire, is the present contract holder for the City’s tire
purchases. She asked the City why no tires have been purchased from July to
present. She also presented a copy describing Yokahoma Tires performance, which
was the requested in the City’s new bid. Ms. Bay also stated that she had not
received the recent tire bid request that was mailed by the City.
Jacqueline Smoots, 8011 Briar Ct.
Ms. Smoots stated that her concern is with not hearing anything from MSD for over
three weeks. She asked what permit was needed to have someone put in a hot
water heater. Ms. Smoots has not heard from her insurance company either.
Ms. Feier stated that a permit is needed to install a hot water heater but all fees have
been waived for the flood victims. Mayor Adams stated that the report due from
MSD will probably be available by the next Council meeting.
Darcelle Caldwell, 8011 Briar Ct
Ms. Caldwell was upset that the flood was not part of the Council agenda for the
night.
