<br />To: Honorable Mayor Adams and Council <br />From: Julie Feier, City Manager <br />Date: November 13, 2008 <br />Subject: Weekly Update <br />The head of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency <br />Management Agency (FEMA) announced today that federal disaster aid is available for <br />the state of Missouri. Individuals affected by the severe storms and flooding during the <br />period of September 11-24, 2008 should contact FEMA regardless of previous application <br />To receive any assistance from FEMA, individuals affected by the <br />or denial status. <br />flood must apply with FEMA over the phone at 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or online at <br />www.FEMA.gov within 60 days from today. <br /> Computer access is available at the <br />University City Library or for individuals needing assistance with the Internet, Centennial <br />Commons (7210 Olive Blvd) will have computers and staff support available Saturday, <br />Nov. 15 from 1 PM to 4 PM, Monday, Nov. 17 from 6 PM to 9 PM or Tuesday, Nov. 18 <br />from 1 PM to 4 PM. <br />Whether applying online or over the phone, you should have a pen and paper ready and <br />the following information: <br /> Your social security number <br /> Current and pre-disaster address <br /> A telephone number where you can be reached <br /> Insurance information <br /> Total household income <br /> A routing and account number from your bank (only necessary if you want to <br />have disaster assistance funds transferred to your bank) <br /> A description of your losses <br />Door hangers with a letter of notice will be placed on the previously condemned <br />properties by Monday. The City’s website, billboards and cable notices have been <br />updated, and local media outlets contacted. <br />School District <br />The will hold the final sessions in the community engagement process <br />nd <br />on Tuesday November 18, at 6:30 PM at Barbara C. Jordan Elementary (1500 82 <br />Avenue) and again on Saturday, November 22, at 9:30 AM at the Julia Goldstein Center <br />on Kingsland. In these meetings, the Facilitation Team will provide the draft <br />recommendations it plans to present to the School Board on Thursday, December 4 at 6 <br /> <br />
