<br /> <br />MINUTES OF UNIVERSITY CITY COUNCIL <br />November 17, 2008 <br /> <br /> <br />At the Regular Session of the City Council of University City held in the Chambers of the <br />City Hall, on Monday, November 17, 2008, Mayor Adams called the meeting to order at <br />6:30 p.m. In addition to Mayor Adams, the following members of the Council were <br />present: <br /> Mr. Byron Price <br /> Ms. Lynn Ricci <br /> Mr. Robert Wagner <br /> Mr. Terry Crow <br /> Mr. Michael Glickert <br /> Mr. Arthur Sharpe, Jr. <br />Also in attendance were City Manager Julie Feier and City Attorney John Mulligan. <br /> <br />Mayor Adams called for a moment of silence in honor of Sergeant Michael King for his <br />love of and dedication to University City as a member of the University City Police <br />Department. <br /> <br />C. PROCLAMATION <br /> <br />D. APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br />1. October 27, 2008, Regular Council session minutes were moved for approval by <br />Mr. Wagner, seconded by Mr. Sharpe, Jr. and were approved unanimously. <br />2. October 27, 2008, Study Session minutes were moved for approval by Mr. <br />Sharpe, Jr. seconded by Mr. Wagner and were approved unanimously. <br /> <br />E. APPOINTMENTS <br /> <br />F. SWEARING IN <br />Stefany Brot was sworn in to the Traffic Commission and Anukriti Sud Hittle was <br />sworn in to the Urban Forestry Commission in the City Clerk’s office. <br /> <br />G. PUBLIC HEARINGS <br /> <br /> <br />H. CONSENT AGENDA <br />1. Printing of 2009 Parks and Recreation Guides was pulled from the Consent <br />Calendar for discussion. City Manager Julie Feier stated that the printing on the <br />consent calendar was only for the printing of the guide, not what the contents <br />were going to be. If printing arrangements are made in advance, the prices are <br />lower. Recommendation was made to award to lowest bidder, Creative Printing <br />for $29,325. <br /> <br />CITIZEN COMMENTS <br />Elsie Glickert, 6712 Etzel <br />Ms. Glickert spoke on the content of the Recreation Guide. She addressed the <br />lifeguard situation at Heman Park. Ms. Glickert said that if lifeguards would be <br />certified by Red Cross, Heman Park would not experience the shortage of guards as <br />they did the past summer. She passed out a telephone survey she conducted of <br />eighteen other municipalities to be used as a comparison of lifeguard certification. <br /> <br />
