MINUTES OF UNIVERSITY CITY COUNCIL <br />STUDY SESSION <br />December 01, 2008 <br />The Council Study Session, held in the EOC Room of the City Hall, on Monday, December <br />01, 2008, was called to order by Mayor Adams at 11:00 a.m. In addition to Mayor Adams, <br />the following members of the Council were present: <br />Mr. Arthur Sharpe, Jr. <br />Mr. Michael Glickert <br /> Mr. RobertWagner <br />Mr. Terry Crow <br />Ms. Lynn Ricci <br /> Mr. ByronPrice <br />Also present were the City Manager Julie Feier and the City Attorney John Mulligan. <br />The Study Session was to discuss the City’s strategic planning goals and objectives. The <br />Goals set by Council in 2008 - 2008 were: <br />1. Enhance Commercial and Retail Development <br /> I-170 Olive Development <br />Ms. Feier stated the City has a passive approach on it at the present because of the <br />state of the economy. <br />Mr. Wagner asked the City Manager to have Huntkin send a letter of his intent in <br />keeping pro-active. <br />Putting the name University City on the new bridge at this intersection will be put on <br />hold. The estimate cost would be $20,000. <br />The Great Rivers Greenway District is working on trees, streetlights and new <br />sidewalks from I-170 to McKinght <br /> Olive corridor <br />Design charette was completed and RFQ to go out. <br /> Value City <br />The City Manager was asked to send letter to landlord asking for an update on a <br />lease to Burlington. <br /> Finalize TIF acquisition for Olive properties at North & South and at Midland <br /> Streetscape <br />Grant money is in process with lighting, signs and tree planting <br /> MetroLink Station Development <br />2. Housing and Development that strengthens and grows Neighborhoods <br /> Approved code revisions for varied density for the City <br /> Approved green building experts to work in test area of lots given to University City <br />from the County <br /> TIF, eminent domain and LCRA tools study session <br />Ms. Ricci asked for another study session on these tools <br />3. Financial stability and long term vitality <br /> Identify services to maintain as City functions <br /> Options to increase revenues <br /> Improve communication <br /> <br />
