Mr. Price feels the issue of the buildings is important and the integrity of buildings
and technology not being viable in the older buildings. Mr. Price stated that the
number of calls he has to make to the City Manager would be greatly reduced if
the school district improves. He will tell everyone in his ward that they have a
choice of a class A or a Class D city and the resident can choose by their vote.

Mr. Crow noted that on his visit to Nathaniel Hawthorne, the teachers and
students were wearing their coats inside because of the coldness inside. He
stated he hoped the district would use local contractors when construction starts.
He encouraged Council to take the time to visit in the school and would like to
assist the district in anyway to improve the communication between the schools
and the City. Ms. Wilson stated that previously, School Board member Mr. Stacy
Clay had volunteered to meet with the City.

Mr. Sharpe said he was supportive of the school districts efforts.

3. The Council was asked for direction of several different options suggested for the
parking on Northmoor in keeping with the concern of the safety issue of not being
wide enough for a fire truck or a trash truck. City Manager and Traffic
Commission have sent three options to the Council for their designation as to
which would be the preferable. The options were:

“No parking” restrictions on one side of the street at narrower areas of
Northmoor Drive from 7045 to 7117 and Asbury Ave to the west city limit.

Allow parking only in areas where the street is wider than 24 feet.

Establish a residential parking permit system that would reduce the
volume of cars parked on the street

CITIZENS’ COMMENTS
Carolyn Dolan, 7101 Forsyth
Ms. Dolan was present to speak for Our Lady of Lourdes at Forsythe and
Ashbury. Their concern was for parking restrictions for parishioners,
school/volunteers, and teacher/administrators. She hoped Council would
consider neighborhood, school and community in making a decision. She
offered to be the contact person if anyone had any questions of Our Lady of
Lourdes.

Corge Umlaut, 7372 Northmoor
Mr. Umlaut asked the City to be sure the streets are measured and looked at in a
scientific manor. He stated that no one has justified this with him or his
neighbors as to what they are exactly trying to fix. He stated that the more the
City restricts parking, the more overflow will float down the street and eventually
no parking will be left. Mr. Umlaut also would like to have the City do a
measured response throughout the area. He stated that Northmoor is
experiencing additional traffic now with the shut down of Highway 40, thus using
Northmoor as a cut through. Mr. Umlaut stated that he has not noticed any
problems with fire trucks or garbage trucks getting through from Del-Lin Dr to the
western city limits.
