<br />term needs. The Parks’ Commission have used citizen surveys for input and had <br />focus group meetings for the citizens. This data was compiled into a <br />comprehensive list. The Park Commission then devised a scoring criteria. The <br />results were: <br /> <br /> to expand the beautification of University City, <br /> <br /> build the Centennial Greenway, <br /> <br /> the future of the community center, <br /> <br /> stabilize the revenue and continue to improve the golf course, <br /> <br /> work with the school district <br /> <br /> the citizens input for replacement of indoor pool, <br /> <br /> redesign three parks, Eastgate, Ackerts and Metcalf, <br /> <br /> routine replacements of park features and <br /> <br /> continue ongoing maintenance. <br /> <br />Mr. Glickert complimented Ms. MacCartney for a great Parks’ Master Plan. He <br />stated he was very much in favor of putting lights on the baseball fields and felt it <br />would be a revenue enhancer. Mr. Glickert asked if any thought was given to where <br />in the southeast quadrant of Heman Park, plans were for a basketball court? He <br />suggested using Heman Park for a facilities area and possibly expanding Centennial <br />Commons as it has become identified as “the community”. <br /> <br />Mr. Wagner also thanked Ms. MacCartney for putting a process through and sticking <br />with it. He stated, as the Parks Commission liaison, the report was well presented to <br />them and was vigorously discussed. It was a good process with a buy-in by the <br />commission. <br /> <br />Mr. Price asked about the success of the driving range. Ms. MacCartney said the <br />one good weather month was fabulous so she is reserving comments until they have <br />received some hard data by June. <br /> <br />Mr. Crow asked about making two pieces of land into parks. Ms. Feier will get <br />Council information on the piece of land at Westmoreland and Maryland. The other <br />piece of land was the Dog Park. <br /> <br />Mr. Sharpe asked where the senior citizens would be housed if the Community <br />Center is closed. Ms. MacCartney said that Municipal Service Facility footprint may <br />take part of Heman Community Center and then planning will be needed to relocate <br />Community Center services to other locations. Ms. Feier stated she has started talk <br />with Mid-East over this possibility. <br /> <br />Ms. Ricci asked if this plan had gone to Washington University. Ms. MacCartney <br />said the City Manager has requested support but as of yet they have not finalized a <br />total agreement. Ms. Ricci asked to have a couple of typos corrected before it is <br />sent. She asked about the restroom with a problem in Heman Park. Ms. <br />MacCartney said that restroom had been closed permanently and the new one was <br />installed in November and will open at normal time in the spring of 2009. <br /> <br />Mayor Adams also complimented Ms. MacCartney on the new Parks Master Plan. <br /> <br /> <br />
