2009 Sculpture
Tomorrow, Saturday, April 4 there will be a reception event for the
Series!
The formal kick-off events for this year’s show including a meet-and-greet with
the student artists will commence at 2:00 p.m. a Centennial Commons 7120 Olive Blvd.
Northmoor residents
met the evening of March 2 at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish
School Cafeteria to review the Fire Department’s public safety concern regarding
parking on the narrow sections of the street impeding emergency vehicles. Council
directed staff refrain from making a recommendation to limit parking on Northmoor.
Therefore, the issue will not come before Council for discussion or decision. However,
they are asking that the neighbors consider structural change to the street, which would
accommodate parking on both sides of the street. For a change to move forward a
Neighborhood Improvement District (NID) would need to be approved by a majority of
the residents. There are a number of options available to residents and the public
works staff will be available for assistance should they choose to proceed.
City’s ¼-cent Local
Draft versions of a citizen survey and brochure relating to the
Option Sales Tax, Proposition S
, are attached for your review. Please return ideas
and feedback to me by April 13. The survey will be made available online via the
weekly update, and hard copy will be available for Council distribution. The letter from
the Mayor will be included in the upcoming recreation guide.
Ruth Park Golf Course
Three cheers for and Driving Range! Congrats to Nancy MacCartney and Doug Castellari!
Given these continued unsustainable trends, inner ring suburbs have no choice but to
use future tax money to improve our communities. On April 9, a session of the
Tax Increment Financing:
Community Partnership Project Seminar Series will present
Understanding the Use and Impact of Local Development Incentives on
Communities
. While elected officials would rather have the new increment for use in
our budgets, we must still compete with the huge subsidies that encourage
unsustainable growth patterns in the region. The free session will run from 3:00-4:30
PM at the JC Penney Conference Center, Room 126, University of Missouri – St. Louis.
Free Parking in available in Lot C.
St. Louis Learns & LeadsSustainable St. Louis
in partnership with presents The
Necessary Revolution: A St. Louis Perspective: Acting Together To Create A
Sustainable World on April 23, 2009, from 8:00 AM –12:00 PM at St. Louis University,
John Cook School of Business Busch Auditorium, 3674 Lindell Blvd. Learn about local
and global cutting-edge sustainability initiatives.
