Session 1718, Minutes
March 30, 1998

Ms. Patricia Jackson, 6719 Plymouth, wished to voice her support for the Gatesworth
expansion. She has been a resident of University City for twelve years and an
employee of the Gatesworth. She said that the owners were truly fair and honest
people. They offer an excellent service to the community. This expansion will bring in
revenue and jobs to the community.

Ms. Eldora Spiegelberg, 7200 Pershing, wished to voice her opposition to the
Gatesworth expansion. She has been a resident for thirty five years and feel
neighborhoods are very important. She is concerned that the taxes that will go to the
public schools will not be near as much as should be. She hopes that the City and the
Gatesworth will do everything necessary to preserve those affected neighborhoods.

Mr. John Lamb, 8672 Barby Ln., wished to voice his opposition to the Gatesworth
expansion. His father was a founder of University City and was on the first board of
alderman and believes he would be horrified with this situation. He believes that the
Council should listen to the citizens and not to corporations who make money for a
profit and destroy neighborhoods.

Ms. Kit Hagen, 20 Willow Hill, Ladue wished to voice her opposition to the Gatesworth
expansion. She and her husband strongly urges Council to require a fifty foot setback
from their south property line. This would provide the space needed for a garden
apartment residential development. She also asked Council to consider the massive
impact of a four story building directly behind their two story house, which will have a
negative impact on the value of their home. She said that Council should modify the
plan to one and two story units to keep in character with the neighborhood.

Ms. Lisa Brnjac, 142 Linden Ave., is the Director of Marketing for the Gatesworth and
wished to voice her support of the Gatesworth expansion. She handles all of the
leasing for the Gatesworth and the waiting list is currently six months all the way up to
three years. The Gatesworth provides wonderful services and improvements to the
residents. This addition will be of great benefit to City.

Mr. Jamil Glasby, 8668 West Kingsbury, wished to voice his opposition to the
Gatesworth expansion. He has lived here for twenty seven years and his children all
went through the school system. The neighborhood welcomed him and his family with
open arms when they first moved there. He believes that the rezoning will drastically
change the neighborhood factor. The neighborhood is very important and he asked
Council to consider their wishes and concerns as they vote on this issue.

Ms. Lana Weinbach, 8720 W. Kingsbury, wished to voice her opposition to the
Gatesworth expansion. She wanted to make it clear that she and her neighbors in the
DeI-Price neighborhood, were very much in favor of economic development and the
