Session 1933

MINUTES OF THE UNIVERSITY CITY COUNCIL

September 3, 2004

At a special meeting of the City Council of University City held in the second floor
conference room, September 3, 2004, Mayor Joseph Adams called the meeting to order
at 4:00 P.M. In addition to Mayor Adams, the following members of Council were
present:

Ms. Cassandra Colquitt
Ms. Francine Brungardt
Ms. Shelley Welsch
Mr. Arthur Sharpe, Jr.

Excused: Mr. Robert Wagner and Ms. Stefany Brot

Bids for City Hall Boilers

Mr. Ollendorff stated that it was important to replace the boilers as quickly as possible
since it takes six weeks to deliver them, which will hopefully be close to the end of
October, in order to make it before the winter season starts. The bid results were as
follows:

Company Name
Bendler Mechanical
Propipe Corporation
American Boiler

Bid Price
$109,731.00
$145,000.00
$129,700.00

Alternative Bid
$97,675.00

$125,875.00

Budget Estimate

$120,000.00

Mr. Ollendorff recommended acceptance of the Bendler Mechanical bid of
$109,731.000 with alternate deductions up to $12,056. The current console was built in
1987 and parts are very difficult to get for repairs. St. Louis Electronics has indicated
that Motorola will only support our current model of console for approximately one year.

The alternate deductions can be exercised depending on what materials are discovered
when the old boilers are removed.

According to the wishes of the Council, the boiler replacement would be designed in a
manner consistent with current LEED certifications requirements.

Ms. Welsch moved approval. Mr. Sharpe seconded the motion, which carried
unanimously.
