Session 1932 <br /> <br />MINUTES OF THE UNIVERSITY CITY COUNCIL <br /> <br />August16,2004 <br /> <br />At a regular meeting of the City Council of University City held in the council chambers, <br />August 16, 2004, Mayor Joseph Adams called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. In <br />addition to Mayor Adams, the following members of Council were present: <br /> <br />Ms. Cassandra Colquitt <br />Ms. Stefany Brot <br />Ms. Shelley Welsch <br />Mr. Arthur Sharpe, Jr. <br /> <br />Excused absence: <br /> <br />Mr. Robert Wagner <br />Ms. Francine Brungardt <br /> <br />Also present was the City Manager, Frank Ollendorff. <br /> <br />MINUTES <br /> <br />Mr. Sharpe moved to accept the minutes of the Regular meeting held July 26, 2004 and <br />Ms. Brot seconded. Ms. Welsch had several modifications to make: added appropriate <br />comments she had made in regards to Agenda Item #3 that were previously left out; <br />comment that was left out regarding Agenda #6, correction of the spelling of her name <br />on page 8, attributing a comment to Ms. Brungardt in error, when it was made by her; <br />and correction of the word 'adjournment' on the last page. The motion passed <br />unanimously, with the noted corrections. <br /> <br />APPOINTMENTS / REAPPOINTMENTS: <br /> <br />Councilmember Colquitt announced that staff member Lela Fitch was elected to the <br />Pensions Boards as the employee representative. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION-Encoura,qin,q Outdoor Restaurants to Provide Safe Seatin,q <br /> <br />Mr. Sharpe introduced a Resolution encouraging outdoor restaurants to provide <br />safe seating by directing the City Manager to advise businesses with outdoor <br />seating to provide only chairs meeting ASTM Class B Standards and Ms. Welsch <br />seconded. <br /> <br />Ms. Colquitt asked if this meant the Council is asking business owners to <br />purchase a certain type of chair and Mr. Sharpe indicated that the Resolution is <br />advising them to do so in order to meet standards. Ms. Colquitt asked why a <br />Resolution was necessary as opposed to merely speaking with them and Mr. <br /> <br /> <br />
