Session 1932
August 16, 2004

Sharpe said the Resolution is based upon a specific incident which led to taking
stronger action, but it is still a suggestion to provide the best quality chairs
possible so that customers feel safe. Ms. Welsch commented that she had
interpreted the Resolution as a mandate but she was assured by Mr. Sharpe and
the City Manager of its advisory nature. That understood, she said she saw the
benefits of bringing this matter to the attention of shop owners so they can review
the safety of their chairs and she supports the Resolution. Ms. Brot agreed with
Ms. Welsch's statement and mentioned a letter received by Councilmembers
from Jay Brandt of Brandt's Market and Caf~ describing problems with chairs he
had encountered in his business, so she agrees with the Resolution which makes
suggestions in the name of safety and is voluntary. The Resolution passed
unanimously.

A,qenda Item #1 - Consent Calendar

Mr. Ollendorff said the Consent Calendar includes items which appear to require no
further discussion. Mayor Adams advised that when
there are items on the Consent Calendar which a member of the Council wants to
discuss, the Councilmember informs the City Manager prior to the City Council meeting
as to which items should be removed for discussion. Ms. Brot then asked, as a new
member of the Council, if there were a required number of bids. Mayor Adams
suggested that Ms. Brot meet with the City Manager to review the bid procedure and to
obtain information about requests for bids issued by the City. Ms. Brot was concerned
that there appeared to be only one bid submitted, when her understanding was there
should be more.

7-Motorola VHF Mobile Radio for Police Department

Request for quotations were issued for subject requirement. $15,153 was budgeted for
this purchase.
