Session 588 <br /> <br />MIbPJTES OF THE UNIVERSITY CITY COUNCIL <br /> <br />January 25, 1960 <br /> <br />At a regular session of the University City Council, held in the <br />Assembly Room of the City Hall, on Monday~ January 25, 1960, Mayor <br />IIathan B. Kaufman presided and called the meeting to order at 7:30 <br />o'clock P.M. In addition to the Mayor, the following members of <br />the Council were present: <br /> <br />Wm. A. Lahrmann <br />Bruce S. Stake <br />Morie B. Soule <br /> <br />Mildred Greeson <br />Irl B. Baris <br />Paul Tandler <br /> <br />Also present were City Manager Charles T. Henry, and Marvin E. <br />Boisseau~ Director of Law. <br /> <br />MI~IUTES: <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Soule, seconded by Councilman Stake, and <br />unanimously carried, the minutes of the Council meeting of January 15~ <br />1~o0, were approved. <br /> <br />COI,2.iUHICATIONS: <br /> <br />BILL HO. 5788 - DEFINING AI~D PROHIBITING DISCRII. ilNATORY PRACTICES IN <br />PlaiCES OF PUBLIC ACCOPR~ODATIOI]: <br /> <br />In response to inquiry by ~iayor Kau~.~an whether any cor_~unications had <br />been received, the City Clerk stated that a number of letters were re- <br />cently received with reference to Bill No. 5755~ now pending before <br />the Council, copies of which had been transmitted to members of the <br />Council. <br /> <br />CITY I,U~AGER' S P~EPORTS: <br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARING - PROPOSED IMPROVEMENT OF MEYEF, ST~EET FROM OLIVE <br />BOULEVARD TO NORTH LINE OF OLIVE STREET TERF~CE SUBDIVISION: <br /> <br />t-Iayor Kaufman announced that a public hearing has been scheduled for <br />7:~ o clock P.M.~ pursuant to provisions of the City Charter~ with <br />reference to proposed improvement of Meyer Street from Olive Boulevard <br />to the north line of Olive Street Terrace Subdivision. Upon request of <br />the I~ayor, the matter was reviewed by the City i,ianager. <br /> <br />Mayor Kaufman inquired whether any member of the public desired to be <br />heard on this subject, to which there was no response. The Mayor declared <br />the public hearing concluded at 7:38 o'clock P.M. (See Page 8) <br /> <br />CONSIDERATION OF APPLICLTION FOR LICENSE TO SELL 5% BEER AT RETAIL BY <br />THE PACKAGE: <br /> <br />The City Manager informed the Council that an application has been re- <br />ceived for the sale of 5% beer at retail, by the package, from Mr. <br />Harold Firestone, ovn~er of Firestone's Cash Market, 7200 Balson Avenue. <br /> <br />Councilman Soule raised the question of the proximity of the establish- <br />ment in question to schools and a park, and he asked what the limitation <br />is. <br /> <br />Upon inquiry by Mayor Kaufman whether Mr. Harold Firestone, or a representa- <br /> <br /> <br />
