Dorothy Birk, 521 Donne, the next speaker, spoke in behalf of Bill <br /> No. 5788, calling attention to the fact that "all rights have restrictions <br /> or limitations." <br /> <br />Mr. Myron Schwartz, 8228 Tulane, upon being recognized, supported Bill No. <br />.5788. <br /> <br />Mrs. Annie Morris Cohen, 1500 Annandale, was the next speaker to address <br />the Council. Mrs. Cohen pointed out that her children are fifth generation <br />Missourians who are taught the importance of the principles of democracy <br />but who fail to see democracy practiced in their own cormnunity (University <br />City). <br /> <br />Upon being recognized, Mr. Joseph F. Morrello= 7718 S. Broadway, St. Louis, <br />stated that he had been a taxi-cab driver in St. Louis from 1954 to 1956, <br />and he told of difficulties encountered at that time between the white and <br />colored cab drivers. Mr. Morrello spoke against adoption of Bill No. 5788. <br /> <br />Mr. William Burke, 748 Yale Avenue, asked to be recognized, which request <br />was granted. Mr. Burke suggested that the Council give some consideration <br />to tke possibility of appointing a committee composed of persons both in <br />favor of and opposed to Bill No. 5788. <br /> <br />Mr. ~ilton Epstein, 7851 Cornell, upon being recognized, spoke in behalf of <br />Bill No. 5788. <br /> <br />lit. James C. Grady, 6714 Olive Street Road, was the next speaker. Mr. Grady, <br />who operates a tavern in University City was opposed to adoption of Bill <br />1~o. 5788. <br /> (please see o~her side) <br />I4r. Robert Eskridge, 11 Princeton Place, <br /> <br />Mr. 2. Gorman, 1421 Mendell Drive, was next to be heard by the Council. <br />i.ir~ Go,nan, who stated he is a student at Washington University, supported <br />Bill ~o. 5788. <br /> <br />Mr. R. E. Smith, 1036 East Park, asked to be recognized, which request was <br />granted. Mr. Smith stated he is 100% against the bill. <br /> <br />The next speaker was Mr. C. F. Gauen, 7121 Corneli. Mr. Gauen stated he <br />is opposed to Bill No. 5788 because he does not believe that understanding <br />is ever created by law. <br /> <br />1.irs. Marvin Blitz, 1062 Purdue, upon being recognized, supported Bill No. <br />5788 and commended Councilman Baris for having introduced it. <br /> <br />Councilman Lahrmann said he would like to clarify a few things which have <br />been said at this meeting and also at the previous meetings.
