Session 587 <br /> <br />MII'~TES OF THE UI']IVERSITY CITY CO~.ICIL <br /> <br />January 18, 1960 <br /> <br />At a regular session of the University City Council, held in the <br />Asse~oly Room of the City Hall, on Monday, January 18, 1960, Mayor <br />Uathan B. Kaufman presided and called the meeting to order at 7:30 <br />o'clock P.M. In addition to the Mayor, the following merabers of <br />the Council were present: <br /> <br />Wm. A. Lahl~.~ann <br />Bruce S. Stake <br />Morie B. Sou!e <br /> <br />Mildred Greeson <br />Irl B. Baris <br />Paul Tandler <br /> <br />Also present were City 1,1anager Charles T. Henry, and John J. Morris, <br />Assistant Director of Law. <br /> <br />I. IIIPJTES i <br /> <br />Councilman Baris called attention to page 10 of ti:e minutes of the <br />Council meeting of January 11, 1960 (Subject: PUBLIC HEARING, BILL <br />US. =~°~ . <br /> ~oo. .) and he moved that the minutes be amended to read, "Miss <br />I,lollie Schlafman, 747 Yale, a graduate of University City High School, <br />now attending Washington University." Motion seconded by Councilman <br />S~ake and unanimously carried. <br /> <br />Councilman Soule moved that the minutes of the Council meeting of <br />January 11, 1960, be approved as amended; however, he stated he believes <br />it would be helpful to the members of the Council if a concise statement <br />of the reasoning of the various speakers could be furnished (in connection <br />with matter of Bill No. 5788). Whereupon, Councilman Stake seconded the <br />motion and suggested that if possible a complete transcript of the pro- <br />ceedings of the public hearing held on January 11, 1960, be transmitted <br />to members of the Council. It was so ordered by Mayor Kaufman, and the <br />motion to approve the minutes of the Council meeting of January 11, 1960, <br />as amended, was unanimously carried. <br /> <br />C Ol.~t.'tU1 ri C, AT IONS: <br /> <br />BILL NO. 5788 - DEFIi,III,~G AiID PROHIBITING DISCRII.IIi'IATORY PRACTICES IN <br />PI~ICES OF PUBLIC ACCOMMODATIOI, I: <br /> <br />Upon inquiry by Mayor Kaufman whether any cor~.unications had been re- <br />ceived, the City Clerk replied affirmatively. The City Clerk suggested <br />that due to the voluminous amount of mail received, pertaining to Bill <br />~!o 5708, in order to save time, copies be made by t~~e Clerk's office <br />and transmitted to members of the Council. This was satisfactory to all <br />members of the Council and it was so ordered by Iiayor Kaufman. <br /> <br />APPLICATION FOR CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT - MRS. LEO ICRP~R: <br />In connection with items on the regular agenda, the City Clerk read a <br />communication dated January 15, 1960, from Mr. Harold C. Ackert, attorney <br />representing Mrs· Leo Kramer, relative to application of Mrs~ Kramer for <br />a Conditional Use Permit to conduct a nursing home at 712 Kingsland Avenue. <br />(See page 3) <br /> <br /> <br />
