JACOB RUDIi'] FOR A CONDITIOIIAL USE PERMIT: <br /> <br />The City Clerk read a connnunication dated January 15, 1960, from Mr. <br />C. C. Singer concerning application of Mr. Jacob Rudin for a Conditional <br />Use Permit for a gasoline dispensing service station at King Kar Wash, <br />8304 Olive Boulevard. (See page 3) <br /> <br />CITY ~I'~GER' S REPORTS: <br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARING - PROPOSED II,~PROVEMENT OF £2{ERi{ AVEI,IUE FROM EAST LINE OF <br />NORTH AIID SOUTH ROAD TO TI-IE I'~ST LINE OF HA~rLEY ROAD: <br /> <br />1-iayor Kaufman announced that a public hearing has been scheduled for this <br />evening, pursuant to provisions of the City Charter, concerning proposed <br />improvement of Ahern Avenue extending from the east line of North and South <br />Boulevard to the west line of Hanley Road in Richardson's Washington Park <br />Subdivision, a distance of approximately 1,051 feet. The matter was re- <br />viewed by City Manager tlenry. <br /> <br />Upon inquiry by Mayor I~aufman whether any member of the public wished to <br />be heard on this subject~ Mr. William F. Conner, 7547 Ahern Avenue, asked <br />to be recognized, which request was granted. I~r. Conner stated that he <br />represents only himself and he spoke against the proposal. <br /> <br />Iir. Ualter J. Sticka, 7536 Ahern Avenue, upon being recognized, stated that <br />he is in favor of the proposal. <br /> <br />The next speaker to be recognized, Mr. Morris Bass, 7535 Ahem Avenue, <br />stated he is in favor of the proposed project, but raised the question of <br />possible difficulty in the matter of refuse collection at the time the <br />street is being improved. The City Manager explained that arrangements <br />for garbage and trash pickup would be made. <br /> <br />Mr. Harvey Moldafsky, 7514 Ahern Avenue, asked to be recognized, which re- <br />quest was granted. Mr. Moldafsky called attention to the dangers of "blind <br />corners" which he stated exist at the corner of North and South and Ahem, <br />and at the corner of Hanley and Ahern. Mr. Moldafsky said that if improve- <br />ment of the street as proposed will result in eliminating the hazards of <br />those corners he would be in favor of the proposal. <br /> <br />Mr. Leroy Keller, 1095 N. Hanley, was the next speaker to be recognizedr He <br />stated he is appearing on behalf of himself and his mother, and spoke against <br />the proposed improvement. <br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARING - APPLICATI~] FOR REZONING PRESEI-]TED BY THE GERALD A. I*~ISS <br />F~ALTY COMPANY: <br /> <br />~ayor Kaufman stated that this matter would be deferred until the hour of <br />8 o'clock, which is the time scheduled for a public hearing on this applica- <br />tion, <br /> <br />APPLICATION OF DI;~4OND II~ES~i~ COMPAI'~ FOR F~ZOI~ING: <br />This matter was reviewed by ti~e City Manager. Copy of a report from the <br />City Plan Commission, dated January 4, 1960, was attached to agenda item <br />nu~oer 3. Upon inquiry by ~layor Kaufman whether the applicant is present, <br />I~r. V. Harry Rhodes, representing the Diamond Investment Company, came for- <br />ward. Procedure of the Council with respect to matters of rezoning were <br />explained by the Mayor. <br /> <br />Councilman Soule moved that a public hearing be scheduled for February 8, <br /> <br /> <br />
