He moved that the City's charge be raised ££om $25.00 to $35.00 and
that the City limit those hospitals to which the ambulances will go to four:
Barnes, Jewish, St. Louis Children's and St. Louis County.

Councilman Weissenburger requested that this be deferred in order to give
him an opportunity to study the matter further.

Councilman Werner then moved that the Council act on the increase in charges
from $25.00 to $35.00.

Councilman ~7eissenburger said he would like to have a little more analysis
of the problem here and would like to see both matters deferred before the
Council takes action. Following some discussion, it was agreed that both
matters be deferred and that the administrative forces prepare a report.

EMERGENCY TELEPt~NE NU~ER:
With regard to the new Police and Fire Emergency telephone number, Council-
man Weissenburger suggested 2211 be used rather than 3535. He felt this
would be easier to remember.

Councilman Lieberman said there are about ten communities in the State who
use 911 and he suggested this number be used. City Manager Henry said that
while he concurs this would be better, there is no way that it can be
initiated; he said he spent a great deal of time discussing this with the
Telephone Company and unless the whole of St. Louis County, at least, and
the City of St. Louis agree, they won't do it.

Discussion followed and there was also some consideration of how the emergency
number should be answered.

ALLEGED CLOSING OF MASSAGE CENTER:
Councilman Weissenburger called attention to a newspaper article concerning
alleged closing of a massage center located at 6~46 Delmar by University City
police, on May 21st.
