Special Session 935, Minutes <br />June 23, 195~ <br /> <br />Ho.li.day_s~ ,Continued: <br /> <br />Page 16 <br /> <br />Length of Service <br />1 to 10 years <br /> <br />Allowable Vacations Method of Computation <br />2 calendar weeks + 2 days 1 day per month of service <br /> <br />10 to 20 years <br /> <br />20 or more years <br /> <br />3 calendar weeks + 3 days <br />4 calendar week + 4 days <br /> <br />1 1/2 days per month of <br /> service <br />2 days per month of service <br /> <br />Allow~bi~ ?~< holidays for all employees, except Police and Fire Personnel, <br />will be: <br /> <br />New Year's Day Labor Day <br />Washington's Birthday Veteran's Day <br />Memorial Day Thanksgiving Day <br />Independence Day Christz~s Day <br /> <br />Police & Fire personnel will be compensated for holiday work. <br /> <br />ADOPTIOM OF 1969-70 ANb~AL BUDGET: <br />Councilman Epstein moved that the 1969-1970 Budget, as amended, be adopted. <br />Motion seconded by CounciLman Grimm and unanimously carried. <br /> <br />LIBRARY BOARD: <br />Councilman Werner said that in connection with the budget dealing with <br />the Library Board, he would like to propose a motion that the Council <br />send a letter to the Library Board aud urge that they consider two points: <br /> <br />1) That a thorough study be made by the Library Board for the next six <br />months concerning the bookmobile and whether or not it should be continued <br />and a report submitted to the Council at the conclusion of the six months' <br />period; <br /> <br />2) That the Library Board not grant any wage increase greater than that <br />which has been adopted by the budget for the Directors set forth in the <br />Personnel Changes which the Council has adopted which is 5 1/2% plus a <br />half step increase as of July 1st. <br /> <br />lie said he thinks it should be the Council's recommendation that the <br />Library i~oard not grant any wage increase greater than that for the fiscal <br />year 1969~.70o Motion seconded by Councilman Lieberman. <br /> <br />Discussion followed. Councilman Epstein said she will vote against this <br />recommendation because she doesn't think the Council is in a position to <br />judge this - apparently the salaries of the Library personnel are quite <br />low compared to other libraries. The Mayor said he doesn't think there <br />is sufficient evidence to establish that because the only evidence they <br />presented was the comparison with the City of ~. Louis. Discussion con <br />tinued. Mayor Kaufman suggested adding one other thing to the amendment <br />and that is that in future pr~ entations they should give comparative <br />~lary rates. Councilman ~rner said he amends his motion accordingly. <br /> <br />Upon vote all members of the Council voted AYE with the exce~ion of <br />Councilman Epstein who voted NAY. The motion therefore carried. <br /> <br /> <br />
