Bill No. 6407 was given its third reading. Councilman Grimm moved that Bill No. 6407 be adopted as an ordinance. Motion seconded by Councilman Lieberman. At this juncture, ~. Bill Griep, representing the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, asked to be recognized, which request was granted. Mr. Griep spoke in opposition to Bill No. 6407~ and indicated that if the ordinance is approved they intend to pass the increase on in a direct manner to the customers. Upon poll of the Council~ the following vote was recorded: AYES: Council- men Liebermmn, Woods, Grimm~ Bamburg, ~pstein, Iiatzen and ~.~yor Kaufman. NAYS: None. ABSENT: None. The motion therefore carried and Bill No. 6407 was adopted as Ordinance No. 431J. BILL NO. ~409 AS A}iENDED - ACCEPTING P~PORT OF CO~IlSSIONERS IN WILSHIRE- NORTH AI~D SOUTH-OLIVE I~PROVEMEMT: ~.~yor Kaufman called attention to a memorandum from City Counselor ~rris dated June 26~ 1967, concerning amendment to Bill Mo. 6409, whereupon Councilman Lieberman accordingly moved that Bill No. 6409 be amended as follows: Strike Section 3, and enact in lieu thereof a new Section 3, reading as follows: "Section 3. The City Counselor is authorized to negotiate acquisitions for the individual parcels for such sums not exceeding the award of the Commissioners as to said parcels, and the Director of Finance is further authorized to pay for the property so acquired, or, in the alternative~ authorized to pay into the Court Registry the awards of the Commissioners in a total sum not to exceed Fifty Six Thousand Fifty Dollars ($56,05o)."
