Session 172 I, Minutes
May 4, 1998

4

APPOINTMENT:

Mayor Adams moved the appointment of Mr. Jonathan Fleece, 7043 Waterman, to the
Board of Adjustment for a term ending July 7, 2003. Mr. Wagner seconded the motion,
which carried unanimously.

Mr. Schoomer moved the appointment of Mr. Eric Vickers, 7436 Tulane, to the Library
Board for an unexpired term ending June 30, 2000. Mr. Munkel seconded the motion,
which carried unanimously.

OATH OF OFFICE:

The City Clerk administered the Oath of Office to Ms. Mildred Patterson - Municipal
Commission on Arts and Letters.

The Mayor thanked Ms. Patterson for wishing to serve in this capacity. The work of the
Commissions and Boards are the Council's most important element. The people who
serve are, in some ways, more important than members of the City Council. The Mayor
told the audience that this was a good way to get more involved.

CITY MANAGER'S REPORTS:

CONSENT CALENDAR: (Four Items):

#1 - Third Quarter Budget Transfers: Mr. Ollendorff recommends transferring funds
from accounts where budgeted money is available to those accounts where additional
expenditures have proven necessary. The net transfer is from the contingency fund. It
still appears that we will end the fiscal year on June 30th in good financial condition with
adequate balances to begin the new fiscal year.

#2 - Refuse Containers: Mr. Ollendorff said that bids had been received to supply 30-3
yard boxes, 40-1 ¼ yard boxes, and related lids and hardware. $20,355 was budgeted
for this purchase. Four companies were invited to submit bids. The two responses
received are as follows:

MWC Enterprises
Waste Systems, Inc.

$19,699.50
$2O,355.OO

MWC stated in their bid that they could not provide the lid assembly specified. The
substitute does not fit most of our containers. I recommend awarding this purchase to
Waste Systems, Inc. for their bid of $20,355.
