Session 1721, Minutes <br />May 4, 1998 <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER OF NEW COUNCIL BODY: <br /> <br />Mayor Joseph L. Adams called the meeting to order at 7:50 p.m. In addition to the <br />Mayor, the following members of the Council were present: <br /> <br />Ms. Cassandra Colquitt <br />Mr. Wayne I. Munkel <br />Mr. Robert Wagner <br />Mr. Larry Lieberman <br />Mr. Paul E. Schoomer <br />Mr. Arthur Sharpe, Jr. <br /> <br />Also present was City Manager Frank Ollendorff. <br /> <br />Mayor Adams welcomed Ms. Colquirt to the Council. He said that the Council was a <br />fun, hard-working group and tries to do what is in the best interest of the city. He told <br />Ms. Colquitt to have fun. <br /> <br />Ms. Colquitt wished to thank her constituents, family and friends for their help, support <br />and love during her election campaign to the City Council. She continued to say that <br />she could not have been successful without them and that they were a blessing to her. <br />(Applause followed) <br /> <br />PROCLAMATION: <br /> <br />Mayor Adams read a proclamation proclaiming May, 1998 Senior Citizen's Month. The <br />proclamation will become a permanent attachment to the minutes. <br /> <br />Mr. Lieberman wished to announce that their would be a special program on Elder <br />Fraud which will be held on May 20~h at the JCCA. A panel of very distinguished people <br />will be discussing various elements of elder fraud: Joan Berkman, Southwestern Bell <br />will talk about telemarketing fraud, Jay Nixon, Attorney General will talk about home <br />repair fraud, Becky Cook, Secretary of State will talk about investment fraud, Lee <br />Harrison, U.S. Postal Service will talk about postal fraud. The entire panel will be <br />moderated by Post-Dispatch columnist Greg Freeman. The program is being <br />sponsored by the Older Adult Community Action Program, Mideast Area Agency on <br />Aging, The St. Louis Metropolitan Urban League and the City of St. Louis Area Agency <br />on Aging and the County Older Resident Program. It will be very valuable information <br />for a great number of people. He wished to invite everyone to attend. <br /> <br /> <br />
