<br />SESSION 1555 <br /> <br />MINUI'FS OF WE UNIVERSITY CITY CXXJNCIL <br /> <br />October 21, 1991 <br /> <br />At a regular meeting of the city Council of University City, held in the As- <br />sembly Room of City Hall on l-ionday, October 21, 1991, Mayor Janet Majerus <br />presidOO and callOO the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. In addition to the <br />Mayor, the follOW'ing members of the COUncil were present: <br /> <br />Mr. Byron R. Price <br />Mr. Joseph L. Adams, Jr.* <br />Mr. Robert G. Wagner <br />Mrs. Mary V. Schuman <br />Mr. Paul E. Schoc:mar <br /> <br />Absent: eouncilInember Betty L. 'Ihompson. <br /> <br />Also present was city Manager Frank Ollendorff. <br />MINUl'ES <br /> <br />Mr. Schoomer moved approval of the October 7, 1991 minutes as submitted. Mr. <br />Price seconded the motion, which carriOO unanimously. <br /> <br />Mrs. Schuman ("..a11OO attention to page 8 of the minutes, noting that while she <br />did say what was. attribut.OO to her regarding graffiti artists, she did not <br />wish to leave the! impression that she was SPeaking for the Police Deparbnent. <br />She said this topic had come up in casual conversation with the Police when <br />various programs were being discussed. <br /> <br />*Mr. Adams arrived at this ti.mE! (7: 33 p. m. ) <br /> <br />OATHS OF OFFICE. <br /> <br />Ms. Mary McGrath Tonkin, recen.tly appointed to the Board of AdjustJnent, and <br />Mr. Dal::win Portrn<m, new member of the Mlmicipal Connnission on Arts and Let- <br />ters (and recently retired from the Board of AdjustJnent), were given the oath <br />of office by the city Clerk. <br /> <br />Mayor Majerus thanked Mr. Port::ll1an and Ms. Tonkin for their willingness to <br />serve the City in this way, noting that the council relies greatly on the <br />recornrnendations made by the boards and connnissions. <br /> <br />ANNOUNCEMENT <br /> <br />Mayor Majerus said for the pas't few years, the City and School District have <br />jointly published a newspaper; hOW'ever, it has become increasingly obvious in <br />the last year that the priorities and time tables of each entity are differ- <br />ent and that residents of University City were not being properly se:rvOO be- <br />cause infonnation was not readrlng them in a timely fashion. She said there <br />would be separatE~ publications from ncM on. <br />
