Mr. Schoomer secorrled the <br />motion, which carried unanimously. <br /> <br />*Mr. Adams arrived at this ti1ne. <br /> <br />PRFSENI'ATION BY ESIEY HAMIUION <br /> <br />Mayor Majerus int.erropted the City Manager's agerrla am asked Mr. Esley Ham- <br />ilton, Acting Chair of the Historic Preservation Carmnission, to come fo:rwa:rd. <br />He presented the Cotu1cil with a 316-signature petition which asks that the <br />Tivoli Theater and Building bE~ saved. Mayor Majerus thanked Mr. Hamilton, <br />adding that all \'Tere aware of the building's i..rrpJrtance to the City, but the <br />problem was finding money for rehabilitation. Mrs. Schurran asked that the <br />Historic Preservation Carmnission support the City in its efforts to acquire <br />the building arrl turn it over to a qualified developer. Mr. Hamilton said <br />the Commission is open to suggestions. <br /> <br />TIVOLI WIIDING Acc:uISITION <br /> <br />The City Manager said the University City Redevelopment Authority (UCRA) has <br />notified the City Council of its intention to use its power of eminent domain <br />to acquire the Tivoli Building. If Council objects, it must file a notice <br />within 30 days. He said Council may also wish to express its support of this <br />action. <br /> <br />Mr. Schoomer:mJVed that the City Council applaud the UCRA' s decision to pro- <br />ceed with corrlemnation. Mrs. Schurran secorrled the motion. <br /> <br />Mayor Majerus said the Authority has worked diligently am with great sensi- <br />tivity on this IllCltter arrl deseIved Council's thanks.
