session 1552, Minutes August 19, 1991 Page 10 Mayor Majerus thanked Mr. Rosenfeld for bringing this to council's attention, and said the police will be asked to monitor this situation nulch more closely. Responding to Mr. Price, Mr. Rosenfeld said he had talked with several of the parents, who told him to mind his own business; shortly thereafter, his home was spraypainted with a racial epithet. Mr. Price said council has recently passed same laws designed to deal with same of these problems (curfew, graf- fiti and revised noise ordinances). He asked Mr. Ollen::iorff to obtain infor- mation on the possibility of prosecuting parents of unsupervised children who are breaking the law. Mr. Spencer Cornell, 6857 Roberts, treasurer of 6800 Roberts-Raynorxi-Melrose- Julian and 6900 Roberts Block Unit, read a letter from the group which asked for pothole and sidewalk repairs; more responsive police surveillance of ex- cessive noise from a building in the 6800 block of Melrose; a city-wide fonnn to discuss the new yard waste regulations; and removal of an unused bridge between 6800-6900 Roberts, to be replaced by a walkway. He noted that nearly 90 neighbors signed this petition. Mayor Majerus asked Mr. CoD1e11 to leave the letter with the City Clerk, and said the City will contact him soon. RESOIIJrION Mayor Majerus asked the City Clerk to proceed with the canvass of the SPeCial election held August 6, 1991. The City Clerk said according to Article IX, section 71 of the City 01a.rter, notification was received from the st. louis County Board of Election commis- sioners showing the results of the election held August 6, 1991, to be as follows: NUMBER OF VOI'ES PROIOSrrION NO. 1 YES NO 1,137 770 PROIOSITION NO. 2 YES NO 921 980 Copies of the certification were distributed to council. Mr. Wagner moved approval, with Mrs. Schuman secorxiing the motion. All voted Aye. The City Clerk called attention to a resolution which showed the results of the election. Mr. Adams moved adoption. Mr. Wagner seconded the motion, which carried unanimously. The resolution is attached hereto and made a part of the record. PROClAMATION - D.A.R.E. Il1>.Y Mayor Majerus called attention to a proclamation which designates Thursday, September 12, 1991 as D.A.R.E. Lay in University city. Mrs. Thompson moved approval, with Mr. Adams seconding the motion. All voted. Aye.
