<br />session 1552, Minutes <br />August 19, 1991 <br /> <br />Page 10 <br /> <br />Mayor Majerus thanked Mr. Rosenfeld for bringing this to council's attention, <br />and said the police will be asked to monitor this situation nulch more closely. <br />Responding to Mr. Price, Mr. Rosenfeld said he had talked with several of the <br />parents, who told him to mind his own business; shortly thereafter, his home <br />was spraypainted with a racial epithet. Mr. Price said council has recently <br />passed same laws designed to deal with same of these problems (curfew, graf- <br />fiti and revised noise ordinances). He asked Mr. Ollen::iorff to obtain infor- <br />mation on the possibility of prosecuting parents of unsupervised children who <br />are breaking the law. <br /> <br />Mr. Spencer Cornell, 6857 Roberts, treasurer of 6800 Roberts-Raynorxi-Melrose- <br />Julian and 6900 Roberts Block Unit, read a letter from the group which asked <br />for pothole and sidewalk repairs; more responsive police surveillance of ex- <br />cessive noise from a building in the 6800 block of Melrose; a city-wide fonnn <br />to discuss the new yard waste regulations; and removal of an unused bridge <br />between 6800-6900 Roberts, to be replaced by a walkway. He noted that nearly <br />90 neighbors signed this petition. Mayor Majerus asked Mr. CoD1e11 to leave <br />the letter with the City Clerk, and said the City will contact him soon. <br /> <br />RESOIIJrION <br /> <br />Mayor Majerus asked the City Clerk to proceed with the canvass of the SPeCial <br />election held August 6, 1991. <br /> <br />The City Clerk said according to Article IX, section 71 of the City 01a.rter, <br />notification was received from the st. louis County Board of Election commis- <br />sioners showing the results of the election held August 6, 1991, to be as <br />follows: <br /> <br />NUMBER OF VOI'ES <br /> <br />PROIOSrrION NO. 1 <br /> <br />YES <br />NO <br /> <br />1,137 <br />770 <br /> <br />PROIOSITION NO. 2 <br /> <br />YES <br />NO <br /> <br />921 <br />980 <br /> <br />Copies of the certification were distributed to council. Mr. Wagner moved <br />approval, with Mrs. Schuman secorxiing the motion. All voted Aye. <br /> <br />The City Clerk called attention to a resolution which showed the results of <br />the election. Mr. Adams moved adoption. Mr. Wagner seconded the motion, <br />which carried unanimously. The resolution is attached hereto and made a part <br />of the record. <br /> <br />PROClAMATION - D.A.R.E. Il1>.Y <br /> <br />Mayor Majerus called attention to a proclamation which designates Thursday, <br />September 12, 1991 as D.A.R.E. Lay in University city. <br /> <br />Mrs. Thompson moved approval, with Mr. Adams seconding the motion. All voted. <br />Aye. <br />
