Louis University Wo- <br />man of the Year; Jenny Gibbons, JC>tUllal Athlete of the Week; Anna Gordon, one <br />of 45 recipents of the "Yes I Can" award in Atlanta; am rencM11ed writer <br />Stanley Elkin. She congratulated the individuals arrl thanked the media for <br />the great coverage. <br /> <br />Mr. MaIns noted that Council received a resolution from the City of Berkeley <br />rega:rdi.n:J a bill in the state l.Eqislature that relaxes billboard restrictions <br />on state highways. Mayor Majerus suggested the city go on record as opposin:J <br />this legislation, arrl she asked Council to authorize her to communicate the <br />City's views on this bill to the State l.Eqislature. All agreed. <br /> <br />Mr. Schoaner said there will be an outdoor ceranony at 2 p.m. on May 19 at <br />Delmar and Westgate in which 10 new irrluctees (including Stanley Elkin and <br />Masters and Johnson from University City) will be honored as members of the <br />st. I.Duis Walk of Fame. <br /> <br />Mr. Price said he was reminded every sprin:J at budget time of the need for an <br />additional recreational facility for young people in University City arrl he <br />will be encouraging the Council to try to firrl a way to brin:J this about. <br /> <br />Mayor Majerus remirrled Council it will soon be considerirq the 1991-92 city <br />budget, and that public hearings will be held on May 6 arrl 20 in addition to <br />the three budget study meetin:Js on May 13, 15 and 22. <br /> <br />Mrs. Schuman thanked the Park Deparbnent, enployee Ewald Winker, arrl Ms. SUe <br />Schmalz for the excellent work they did to ensure that the soccer facility <br />was brought back into excellent playing condition. <br /> <br />ADJOORNMENl' <br />Mayor Majerus adjourned the meetirq at 9:17 p.m. <br /> <br />oJ-~ ().~ <br />I))lores A.
