Bill No. 7996 was given its second reading. Bill No. 7996 was given its third reading. Mr. Wagner moved that this bill be adopted as an ordinance. Mrs. Sch\1lllal1 seconded the motion. Upon roll call, the following vote was recorded: AYES: Councilmernbers Adams, Wagner, SChuman, Sdloamer, Price, and Mayor Majerus. NAYS: None. Bill No. 7996 became Ordinance No. 5786. There were several requests to speak on the following bill (No. 7997). Mr. Miles Cramer, 1065 Jackson, said he felt the compromise worked out by the city regarding the vacating of Ahem Avenue west of Jackson is a good one be- cause everyone involved seems to be getting what they want. Mr. Ollendorff confinued Mr. Cramer's assumption regarding the responsibility of the proper- ty owners (the Mays) for paving the street (60-70 feet) in front of their proposed home so that service vehicles have access to the property. Further, vacating the balance of the street assures that the rest of the property is landlocked and cannot be developed. Mr. Cramer said the issues that were raised by himself and his neighbors on this matter were iIrportant and closely connected to property values, especially since in most places those values were decreasing, although that has not been the case in this neighborhood (City View Place). He said the neighbortlood had also been very concerned about not losing the wooded area on part of this property. Mr. Jeff May, 7351 Tulane, owner of the property in question, said he was glad this matter was being resolved to everyone's satisfaction, and he hoped that he and his wife will be accepted in this neighbortlood. They have lived in university City for five years and enjoyed their present neighbortlood very; much, and they would like to have a similar experience in their new location.
