He said there is no public need for this alley am it <br />could be better utilized by adjoinin:J property C1.\Il'lerS. <br /> <br />Mayor Majeros opened the public hearin:J at 7:50 p.m. <br /> <br />Ms. Alice Gathright, 8409 Braddock, said although the City recently cle.aned <br />out the area, poison ivy is still grcMin:J in nearby trees, am she wanted <br />that problem resolved. She also wished to kr1c.:M what haR:JenS if an adjoinin:J <br />owner does not want hisJher share of the alley. Mr. Ollerrlorff said the City <br />cannot give the property away; it only vacates its interest. 'Ihe courts rec- <br />ognize the adjacent owner as havin:J first right to claim the property, but it <br />doesn I t have to be claimed. Ms. Gathright was told her taxes probably would <br />not increase. Mr. Ollerrlorff said the adjacent owner is required to maintain <br />the property in any case, am the City tried to make that easier with the re- <br />cent cleanup. 'Ihe city has agreed to cut down the trees with poison ivy when <br />they die, but not while they are still healthy. <br /> <br />Mayor Majeros closed the public hearin:J at 7: 57 p.m. <br /> <br />Mr. Ollerrlorff said whatever action Council takes, the City will notify adja- <br />cent property owners with all necessary documents am continue discussing <br />this with them. <br /> <br />IUBLIC HF.ARING - LIMITED TRUCK PARKING PERMIT <br /> <br />'Ihe City Manager said a public hearin:J was scheduled for this time am place <br />to hear camnents on a system to pennit small non-ccmnercial tnlcks to park on <br />the street in the exceptional circumstance where the owner has no Iilysical or <br />legal alternative. 'Ihe system would include fees to insure that all costs of <br />insPection am enforcement are paid by the applicant. <br /> <br />Mayor Majeros opened the public hearing at 7:59 p.m. <br /> <br />Ms. Doris Bresnahan, 715 Harvard, said several houses with no driveways or <br />garages were adjacent to hers; consequently, there could be tnlcks constantly <br />parked on the street in front of her house, marrin:J the beauty of the area. <br /> <br />Mr. scott Skiple, 7343 Drexel, said he was a tnlck owner who has received a <br />mnnber of tickets, but now has a place to park off-street. He felt no one <br />would park a tnlck on the street unless it was necessary, but said some did <br />not have a choice am the current law is unfair to them. He urged Council to <br />lift the ban. <br /> <br />Ms. Shirley Clabo:rn, 6753 Etzel, spoke in q:p:>sition to tnlcks parkin:J on the <br />street because she felt that would affect property values negatively. She <br />
