Mayor Majerus added that wince has been an excellent corporate <br />citizen, am the council was very pleased about the expansion. <br /> <br />PERSONNEL REroRI' <br /> <br />The Persormel report for the week errling January 25, 1992, was received and <br />ordered filed. <br /> <br />FOLICE DEPARIMENT REroRI' <br /> <br />The Police Deparbnent report for the I1'Dnth of December, 1991, was received <br />and ordered filed. <br /> <br />CITIZEN <XMMENTS <br /> <br />Ms. Genies Jordan, 7035 Melrose, said she has discussed the graffiti problem <br />with her neighbors, and while the ordinance requir~ proIlpt removal of graf- <br />fiti is good, graffiti is still appear~ in the city in places where it is <br />not being removed, such as dlnnpsters. She wasn't sure how to reach the young <br />people who are do~ this, but her group was pl~ to distribute flyers, <br />perhaps through the schools. She wondered if the City could connnunicate with <br />the connnunity somehow, informing them of actions that can be taken to aid in <br />solv~ this problem. She said some businesses have been hit several times, <br />and it was very discourag~ and expensive to correct. Mayor Majerus said a <br />report of either graffiti or the perpetrator would be welcomed by the city. <br />Ms. Jordan said her group hoPed to reach Parents to encourage them to discuss <br />with their children the damage graffiti does, but nany Parents are reluctant <br />to report it because they fear repercussion. Mayor Majerus said calls cannot <br />be traced on either the police non-ernergency m.nnber or the drug hotline, arrl <br />either can be used to report infractions. Mr. Price asked how the City re- <br />sponded to graffiti on city property, such as dlnnpsters or street signs. Mr. <br />Ollendorff said the City tries to respond as quickly as possible. Mrs. SChu- <br />nan suggested that perhaps Sgt. Marquard and neighborhood watch groups could <br />disseminate the information that the dn1g hot hotline and police number nay <br />be called without fear of the call be~ traced. <br /> <br />Mr. Jolm Boyce, 7341 Maryland, noted that neighborhood preservation was given <br />a high priority in the City's comprehensive plan. He and his neighbors had <br />concerns about putt~ infill hous~ in areas such as Maryland Terrace which <br />have large lots that could be sul:xlivided. They felt this could easily ruin <br />
