Sweeper for Streets Department

An invitation for bid was issued for a new street sweeper. The result follows:

Bid Price
Key Equipment . . . . . . . . $125,555.00

Key Equipment is the only vendor in the Midwest region that can supply the street
sweeper which the Central Garage specified. The price is only $55.00 more than we
paid two years ago for our last sweeper purchased. Therefore, he recommended the
purchase of the sweeper from Key Equipment for the bid of $125,555.

Mr. Wagner moved approval of the consent calendar and Mr. Sharpe seconded, and the
motion passed unanimously.

AGENDA ITEM # 2 – Kaufman Park Greenhouse:

The Green Center in collaboration with U. City in Bloom is exploring the idea of building
a greenhouse. At this point Ms. Welsch interjected that she wanted to clarify for the
record that she is Executive Director of the Green Center, but she does not have any
financial interest in the proposed project or the Green Center, so a conflict of interest
isn’t present. Mr. Ollendorff said that the proposal is to build a greenhouse on the
Green Center grounds in Kaufman Park to grow plants and educate citizens. The City
Manager recommended approval of the concept on the conditions that there be no
capital or operating cost to the City, that all plans be approved by the Park Commission,
that all City department permit approval be obtained. The use appears to be in keeping
with the lease for a portion of Kaufman Park between University City and Green Center
although it does vary from our general policy of not encouraging new construction of
large enclosed buildings on park open space. Mr. Ollendorff recommended support of
this initiative.

Ms. Brot moved approval and Ms. Colquitt seconded, with the motion passing
unanimously.

AGENDA ITEM # 3 – Conditional Use Restaurant for 6602 Delmar

Mr. Ollendorff concurred with the recommendation from the Plan Commission that this
project be approved with one condition added to those recommended by the Plan
Commission.
