Session 1963

MINUTES OF THE UNIVERSITY CITY COUNCIL

May 2,2005

At a regular meeting of the City Council of University City held in the Council
Chambers, on Monday, May 2, 2005, Mayor Joseph Adams called the meeting to order
at 6:30 P.M. In addition to Mayor Adams, the following members of Council were
present:

Ms. Cassandra Colquitt
Ms. Francine Brungardt
Mr. Robert Wagner
Ms. Stefany Brot
Ms. Shelley Welsch
Mr. Arthur Sharpe, Jr.

Also present was the City Manager Frank Ollendorff.

Comments Regarding Pool Management Contract (Agenda Item #6):

Mr. Ollendorff announced that the pool management contract would be cancelled
and that the city parks staff would manage the pool this season. He thanked the
citizens and Council for the good counsel regarding this matter. The people have
spoken regarding this issue. Therefore, residents wishing to speak on Agenda
Item #6 do not have to since it is a non-issue.

Mr. Wagner thanked all the many citizens who have sent email and made phone
calls about this. They have all been very informative. He urged that the City
Manager leave agenda item #6 on the agenda so that people could speak on the
issue if they wish.

Ms. Brungardt said that as Councilmember liaison to the Parks Commission, she
would also like to see number six left on the agenda. She thanked the many
citizens who came to speak on this issue, through either the Park Commission or
Council venue and appreciated their hard work and attention to this very
important matter, which was extremely helpful to the Council and City Manager in
determining the best way to manage this situation.

Mr. Sharpe thanked Mr. Ollendorff for his decision, at this time, to take over
the management of the pool. He also appreciated the quality of the comments
received from citizens, staff and his fellow City Councilmembers on this issue.
This is an excellent example of how citizens, staff and the City Council can
work well with each other.

Mayor Adams thanked Mr. Ollendorff for his speed on resolving this matter.

MINUTES

Councilmember Sharpe moved approval of the minutes of the Special Session of
April 4,2005 and Councilmember Welsch seconded. The motion passed unanimously.
