Session 1727, Minutes
July 13, 1998

next year, was having a bond issue election. They have tried, in the past, to work with
each other, in not holding simultaneous tax issue elections.

Mr. Sharpe said he normally is very much in favor of the school system, but in this
issue, his main concern are the residents of the Third Ward. He needs more
information on the particulars of the bond issue process.

AGENDA #3 - WASHINGTON/TRINITY STOP SIGNS:

Mr. Ollendorff said that the Council had directed on March 30, 1998 that information be
presented after a 90 day trial period regarding traffic law enforcement of the stop signs
and parking restrictions. Twelve citations were issued for stop sign violations and one
ticket for parking too close to the corner. We have received no comments from citizens
regarding the stop signs. We will continue to have the stop signs in place and enforced
on a random basis unless directed other wise by the City Council.

The Mayor said that the sense of the Council was to continue as is with no changes.

AGENDA #4: U. CITY LOOP SPECIAL BUSINESS DISTRICT ANNUAL REPORT
AND BUDGET:

Mr. Ollendorff said that the U. City Loop has completed another successful year and the
Council has their annual report and their budget for the year that started a couple of
weeks ago.

Mr. Schoomer moved acceptance of the annual report and budget. Mr. Munkel
seconded the motion, which carried unanimously.

AGENDA #5- POLICE GRANT APPROVAL:

Mr. Ollendorff said that he had requested approval for a grant application for a couple of
police cars and related equipment for the officers who were previously provided through
federal grants. Now they need a vehicle to ride in.

Mr. Munkel moved approval. Mr. Sharpe seconded the motion.

Mr. Lieberman asked what type of use would this unit be put to. Mr. Ollendorff replied
that this unit was on directed patrol. That means that they are not just assigned to one
area, but given specific, varied activities. Mr. Lieberman asked if this supplements what
is normally done. Mr. Ollendorff said that this is in addition to the normal patrols.

The motion passed unanimously.
