Park, conducted Stakeholder interviews and provided the Advisory Committee with the <br />initial analysis this week. The Advisory Committee consists of a diverse group of <br />students, residents, property owners, City staff, Washington University staff, Park <br />Commission and Park Foundation members. It proposes an The <br />eight- member initial Task Force would be made up of four members from each City. <br />One City Council Member and one Planning Commission Member from each City plus <br />two citizens from each community would meet with staff support. The goal of the Task <br />Force is to explore development opportunities created by pursuing joint redevelopment <br />initiatives in the Olive Boulevard corridor on both sides of the Interstate 170 <br />Interchange. The final product would be the development of a consistent long-range <br />strategy that builds on the strengths of both communities. The Olivette Council reviewed <br />the attached proposal and approved this week. Council may wish to consider citizen <br />appointments on the Task Force as well as Council appointments. Appointments could <br />be made as early as your June 15 Council meeting. With your feedback and <br />appointments, staff is ready to proceed. <br />Next Saturday, June 13 at 9 AM residents, families, and visitors are invited to a <br />scavenger hunt“Roaring Lions of University City”. <br /> to find the nine (9) The <br />community wide art project is sponsored by the Historical Society of University City in <br />commemoration of the 100 Year Birthday of the Lion and Lioness that sit at the Gates <br />Of Opportunity in the Harriett Woods Civic Plaza. The Roaring Lions are life-sized <br />fiberglass lions that have been decorated by artists around the region including local <br />artist, William Curtis and Walk of Fame artist, Mary Engelbreit. Scavenger Hunters <br />should come to the Plaza at 9 AM to receive their clues (and a map) as to where all nine <br />lions are located. The first to find all nine will receive a prize. Others who complete the <br />hunt will also receive a commemorative prize. The Lions will be on display until mid <br />September when a birthday party is planned. Special thanks to the local sponsors of <br />this art project, including the in-kind assistance of the City of University City (especially <br />Ewald Winker, Rich Pierce, Gary Wilkinson and their staffs), Commerce Bank, U City in <br />Bloom, Parks Foundation, St. Andrews Senior Services, Washington University, <br />Parkview Gardens, the UC School District, University Hills, and the Gatesworth. Maps <br />will be available throughout the project from the website, Centennial Commons, The St. <br />Louis Visitors Bureau or the front desk in City Hall. <br />A number of items are provided below as follow up to your June 1 Council meetings; <br />such as, information on the budget needed for electrical breakouts, the draft 4 budget <br />revisions, information on financial reports. The municipal court reports were already <br />delivered and will be filed with the City Clerk each month.
