Ordinance No. 6744.

RESOLUTIONS

L. CITIZEN COMMENTS
1.
Jan Adams, 7150 Cambridge
Ms. Adams complimented the Council on a well run budget session on May 14,
2009. She had the City Clerk Ms. Pumm pass out questions to the Council for
which she asked for a written response. She then had Ms. Pumm pass out a
sealed envelope for Council, City Manager and City Attorney dealing with an
employment issue, suggesting that it be handled in Council’s next Executive
session.

Mr. Price stated that he had no jurisdiction of any employee except one, which is
the City Manager. He asked that his letter be given to the City Attorney and if it
was appropriate, the City Attorney could give it to him.

Ms. Adams continued by thanking Mr. Price for the excellent suggestion on
Single Stream Recycling and asked that the public be informed as to what they
can do to help encourage it.

Ms. Ricci stated that in the interest of an open and transparent government and
in the interest in having feed back from our citizens, while it may be personnel,
she would welcome anything citizens would have to say and any positions, ideas
or notions that a citizen would have that would help Council or City Manager
make a correct decision to make this City a better place. She welcomes anyone
to provide her and any Councilmember that will accept it, with any information.

2.
Elsie Glickert, 6712 Etzel
Ms. Glickert stated that University City has been appointed the “destination city”
for many years. In 2004 the City had many bus tours coming to City Hall which
the Historical Society conducted. Since then there have been many tours
coming to the City. City Hall was a memorable building in the World’s Fair. After
touring City Hall the group then proceeds to the Loop. Ms. Glickert said that
since it is budget time, some money should be put aside to get City Hall’s search
light in working condition and used every Friday and Saturday night to make it
even more a “point of destination.”

3.
Mae Etta Weston, 1595 Mendell Dr.
Ms. Weston congratulated Council for coming up with a balanced budget. She
also was excited about the property on Olive Blvd near North & South and the
joint meeting Councils of U.City and Olivette working together at I170 and Olive.
She hoped that the Economic Development Commission was also working on
the property where Value City was. She felt more and more businesses were
moving out of this area and she asked that future economic development plans
pay particular attention to this area.

Mayor Adams congratulated Ms. Weston on receiving the Volunteer of the Year
award from the Ladies of Distinction.
