The applicant failed to include the request for Sunday liquor sales; therefore the
applicant is requesting approval at this time. Approval is recommended.
5. Medical Contract:
Approximately one year ago our long time Medical Director for the
Fire Department retired from his position at the hospital where he worked. This left us
in a position to find a replacement that would oversee our entire EMS division. The Fire
Chief met with St. Mary’s Health Center who at the time agreed to take over Medical
Control. Missouri Baptist Hospital’s Emergency Room chairman has offered to take
over as Medical Control. After several meetings we came to an agreement that this
would be a good fit for both parties. The Fire Chief feels that Missouri Baptist has the
personnel, training and commitment to provide University City Fire Department with the
best medical direction possible and looks forward to a long healthy relationship with
them. I request a motion of Council to authorize the City Manager to execute the
Medical Director Agreement presented in this meeting's agenda packet.
6. Dispatch Contract:
As you know University City Fire Department will be undergoing a
review from ISO in the next few weeks. As a result of our last review it was noted that
the Fire Department dispatching was less than adequate with the current set up of the
Police doing all the dispatching and no checks and balances in place to prevent errors.
University City Fire Department is one of a small group of departments in St. Louis
County left without being professionally dispatched by a Fire/EMS dispatch center. I
recommend we sign the contract and make the switch which will help us with our
upcoming ISO review and will assure safety and accuracy with all future emergency
calls for service. I request a motion of Council to authorize the City Manager to execute
the Dispatch Agreement presented in this meeting's agenda packet.
7. Olive Joint Redevelopment Task Force plan I-170/Olive Joint
proposes an
Redevelopment Task Force.
The eight- member initial Task Force would be made up
of four members from each City. One City Council Member and one Planning
Commission Member from each City plus two citizens from each community would meet
with staff support. The goal of the Task Force is to explore development opportunities
created by pursuing joint redevelopment initiatives in the Olive Boulevard corridor on
both sides of the Interstate 170 Interchange. The final product would be the
development of a consistent long-range strategy that builds on the strengths of both
communities. The Olivette Council reviewed the attached proposal and made their
appointments last week. Council may wish to consider citizen appointments on the
Task Force as well as Council appointments. In order to move forward, appointments
should be made as soon as possible. With your feedback and appointments, staff is
ready to proceed.
8.Boards and
The issue was raised at the last Council meeting regarding the
Commission Appreciation Dinner
. The legislative budget erroneously included
$5,000 for an event for the Mayor because it has been moved to the Administrative
budget; however the Lion Celebration Committee has offered to host a B&C event in
conjunction with the anniversary of the birthday for the Lion’s Gates. Would Council be
interested in leaving the funds in the legislative budget to partner with the Committee on
an event?
