Proposition E-
911 would provide funding to improve emergency communications countywide through
a one-tenth of one cent sales tax (a dime on a $100 purchase).
Proposition E-911 authorizes a funding source to improve emergency communications
in St. Louis County by providing up-to-date 911 technology so that emergency calls
from cell phones can be located quickly and reliably, by providing radios and the
infrastructure for first responders to better communicate with each other, by addressing
the FCC requirements to improve radio frequencies by the end of 2012, and by
improving the county siren system to protect all of St. Louis County.
I urge you to learn about the issues and plans regarding E-911 before you decide
whether to support or oppose this proposition. This proposition has a direct impact on
funding for local government services, particularly with regard to police, fire, and
paramedics.
You should go to www.PropE911.org for a complete set of Questions and Answers
regarding this proposition, and to view three videos that deal with the issues.
