<br />Chair of the Civil Service Board. He suggested going back to Mr. Glickert’s motion <br />first and he would be more than happy to then bring his motion back up to nominate <br />Mr. Greiman. Mr. Crow stated that Mr. Glickert’s motion was skipped. <br /> <br />Mayor Adams stated that in actuality he was letting Mr. Crow finish up with all of his <br />nominations. <br /> <br />Mr. Wagner asked for clarification on selecting a chairman as it has been so long <br />since they have had a Civil Service Board here, he did not remember ever having to <br />deal with appointing a Chair. He stated that most commissions select their own <br />Chair. Mayor Adams stated the Charter so states it. <br /> <br />Mayor Adams asked if someone had asked for a Division of the House. Mr. Price <br />acknowledged he would. <br /> <br />Roll Call Vote was: <br />AYES: Mr. Price, Mr. Wagner, Mr. Crow, Mr. Glickert, Mr. Sharpe and Mayor Adams <br />NAY: Ms. Ricci <br /> <br />Mayor Adams now recognized Mr. Glickert’s previous motion to close citizen <br />applications for the Joint U City/Olivette task force on the redevelopment of Olive <br />and I 170, on Friday before the next Council meeting, seconded by Mr. Crow and <br />was approved unanimously. <br /> <br />Mr. Price asked for a moment of silence in the honor of Mr. Walter Daniels death, <br />who has been actively involved in the University City School District for over forty <br />years. Mayor Adams called for a moment of silence in remembrance of Mr. Walter <br />Daniels. <br /> <br />F. SWEARING IN <br /> <br />G. PUBLIC HEARINGS <br />Setting of Annual Property Tax Rates <br />The Public Hearing was opened at 6:50 p.m. <br /> <br />PUBLIC COMMENTS <br />Brian Suarez, 7481 Amherst Ave <br />Mr. Suarez stated there are more families hurting in University City since the Great <br />Depression. He stated it would be objectionable to raise taxes with homes in <br />foreclosure and the serious recession we are in. <br /> <br />Ms. Watson, City Hall <br />Ms. Watson explained that the City has not received the assessed values of the <br />homes in U City as the appeal process has just ended, so it will take a couple of <br />weeks for it to be sent to the City. When the City receives the evaluations, the <br />Finance Department will determine if they need to make a change to the rates at that <br />time. <br /> <br />Ms. Watson stated that the last year rate, including the library, was .922 cents per <br />100 dollar evaluation. Ms. Watson stated that this year it would be .986. Excluding <br />the library, last year’s rate was .699 and this year’s rate will be .749 a .05 cent <br /> <br />
