Session 1675, Minutes <br />August 19, 1996 <br /> <br />Page 12 <br /> <br />CITIZEN COMMENTS <br /> <br />Mr. Don Wylan, 7354 Mekose, said neighborhoods near the 7400 Olive property appreciated Council's <br />decision to reject a high density apartment complex on this site. He also noted Council's ongoing discus- <br />sions regarding use of the former Mercy High School property by Schnuck's; however he cautioned that <br />residents who live nearby must have an opportunity to express their opinions on use of this property. <br />Mr. Lieherman noted that a public hearing on rezoning the Mercy property will be on the agenda for the <br />next Council meeting, and notices will be sent to nearby residents, subdivision trustees or neighborhood <br />association presidents. Mr. Munkel added that Schnuck's has been advised to conduct meetings with <br />nearby residents; doing so will be at their discretion. <br /> <br />BILLS FOR SECOND AND THIRD READINGS <br /> <br />None. <br /> <br />BILLS FOR INTRODUCTION <br /> <br />BILL NO. 8285 - GRANTING CONSENT TO TRANSFER A CABLE TELEVISION FRANCHISE <br />FROM CONTINENTAL CABLEVISION TO TCI CABLE PARTNERS, EXTENDING THE TERM <br />TO JUNE 23, 1997, SUBJECT TO CERTAIN CONDITIONS, AND CONTAINING AN EMER- <br />GENCY CLAUSE. <br />A bill was introduced by Councilmember Ware, entitled: <br /> <br />"AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF UNIVERSITY CITY, MISSOURI, GRANTING CONSENT <br />TO THE TRANSFER OF A NON-EXCLUSIVE CABLE TELEVISION FRANCHISE FROM CON- <br />TINENTAL CABLEVISION OF ST. LOUIS COUNTY, INC. TO TCI CABLE PARTNERS OF ST. <br />LOUIS, L.P., AND EXTENDING THE TERM OF SUCH FRANCHISE TO JUNE 23, 1997, SUB- <br />JECT TO CERTAIN CONDITIONS INCLUDING THE ADOPTION OF NEW CABLE TELEVI- <br />SION CONSUMER PROTECTION AND CUSTOMER SERVICE REGULATIONS, AND CON- <br />TAINING AN EMERGENCY CLAUSE." <br /> <br />The bill was assigned No. 8285 and given its first reading. <br /> <br />Bill No. 8285 was given its second reading. <br /> <br />Bill No. 8285 was given its third reading. <br /> <br />Mr. Lieberman moved adoption. Mr. Munkel seconded the motion. The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Ware, Munkel, Lieberman, Schoomer, Thompson, and Mayor Adams. NAYS: <br />None.
