Regular meeting <br />August 29, 2005 <br /> <br /> <br />The motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />PENSION FUNDING – <br /> <br />Board recommended that the City start making voluntary payments into the Non- <br />Uniform Pension Fund. Mr. Ollendorff said that there was $150,000 available from <br />budgeted line items that would not be needed that could be used. Mr. Ollendorff asked <br />the Council to formally approve the transfer of General funds into the Non-Uniform <br />Pension Fund, at any point when the Council is ready to do that. <br /> <br />Ms. Welsch moved to postponed the discussion on this till the next scheduled meeting <br />of September 19. Ms. Colquitt seconded. <br /> <br /> <br />CITIZEN COMMENTS ON NON-AGENDA ITEMS: <br /> <br />Mae Etta Weston, 1595 Mendell Dr. – Lack of diversity of businesses between stretch of <br />North and South and McKnight. The number of businesses of one ethnic origin are <br />cornered in that particular area. She asked how heavily the above area is solicited for <br />expansion or new construction or diversity of new businesses. <br /> <br />Ms. Loretta Bryant, 7863 Milan Ave – Requested to remove Ordinance allowing <br />chickens. She also does not think it is appropriate for an area to be called China Town, <br />as it takes away from the community where it actually resides, University City. Mr. <br />Wagner briefly explained the restrictions of the Chicken Ordinance which purpose is to <br />regulate residents from having chickens. <br /> <br />Ms. Elsie Glickert, 6712 Etzel – Wanted to compliment the managing of Heman Park <br />Swimming Pool this summer. She would like to see more parking spaces available as <br />they were hard to find. She also would like attention be taken to the surrounding trees. <br /> <br />Mayor Adams moved to the Legislative docket. <br /> <br /> <br />LEGISLATIVE DOCKET; BILLS FOR SECOND AND THIRD READINGS: <br /> <br />1. BILL NO. 8804 – AMENDING CHAPTER 2.64 OF THE UNIVERSITY CITY <br />MUNICIPAL CODE, RELATING TO THE NONUNIFORMED EMPLOYEES <br />RETIREMENT SYSTEM, BY REPEALING SECTION 2.64.040 THEREOF, <br />RELATING TO MEMBERSHIP, AND BY REPEALING SECTION 2.64.070 <br />THEREOF, RELATING TO CREDITABLE SERVICE; AND ENACTING IN LIEU <br />THEREOF NEW SECTIONS SO AS TO MAKE THE CITY MANAGER A <br />MEMBER OF THE RETIREMENT SYSTEM AS OF THE FIRST DAY OF HIS OR <br />Page 8 <br /> <br />
