SESSION 1729 MINUTES OF THE UNIVERSITY CITY COUNCIL AUGUST 6, 1998 At a special meeting of the City Council of University City held in the second floor conference room of City Hall on Thursday, August 6, 1998, Mayor Joseph L. Adams called the meeting to order at 5:07 p.m. In addition to the Mayor, the following members of the Council were present: Ms. Cassandra Colquitt Mr. Robert Wagner Mr. Larry Lieberman EXCUSED ABSENCE: Mr. Wayne Munkel, Mr. Paul Schoomer and Mr. Arthur Sharpe, Jr. Also present was Assistant City Manager Gregory Rose. City Manager Frank Ollendorff arrived at 5:15 p.m. AGENDA #1: LIQUOR LICENSE TRANSFER - 8428 OLIVE: Mr. Rose said that an application had been received for a license to sell alcoholic beverages by the drink at the restaurant formerly owned by Ken Barry. The new owners have a clear record and indicate that they have been residents of University City for some time. The establishment has been operated for many years without presenting any police or liquor law problems so approval is in order. Mr. Lieberman asked Ms. Erin Rybacki, the applicant, about her background in restaurant and liquor sales. Ms. Rybacki described her very ample experience and background to Council. Mr. Lieberman explained to Ms. Rybacki that liquor license transfers concern him because he wants to know what type of operation is going in there and the clientele that plans to be served there. Ms. Rybacki assured Mr. Lieberman that she is concerned about the same things and has talked with the neighboring businesses. Ms. Colquitt asked Ms. Rybacki if there would be age limits for her clients. Ms. Rybacki said that Ken Barry's was a family restaurant and she wanted to keep it that way. She would not go out and advertise it, but if clients wanted to bring children they would be accommodated. Mr. Wagner asked what there operating hours would be. Ms. Rybacki stated that the operating hours would be 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
