Regular meeting
October 10, 2005

Mayor Adams closed the Public Hearing at 7:30 p.m.

AGENDA #5 - Public Hearing for 830 Wild Cherry Property Vacating
Request for City to vacate up to 20 feet of Balson right-of-way adjacent to the south side
of the single family residential lot at 830 Wild Cherry. It would allow adjacent owner to
improve vacant house and property.

Public Hearing declared open at 7:40 p.m.

Citizens Comments:

Colleen O'Gorman, 2209 Wrights Lodge Rd., St. Clair
She and her husband have designed the house to accommodate her 80 year old
mother-in-law moving back to University City. It is being rehabbed to accommodate a
wheelchair and/or stay in help. They would like to add a two car garage, one garage for
vehicle storage and the other for transportation ability to drive up to pick her up.
Because of this addition, they are requesting a little extra land.

Nancy Popkin, 833 Lionsgate Dr.
She lives behind lot that is requesting additional land. She is not opposed to the
request but would like part of that common ground to allow her continuing access to her
garden, especially if they put up a fence. She is also opposed to a high fence, in that it
would invite crime because no one could see over it.

Joe Hansen, 840 Wild Cherry
He was under the impression that this was granted twenty years ago. He thought it was
vacated to adjacent property owners at that time.

Public Hearing was closed at 8: 15 p.m.

Mr. Ollendorff said that the next step in this vacating process is that an Ordinance has
to be prepared for final Council action, specifically he would like Councilmembers from
Ward 2 to instruct him as to what Ordinance to draw up. Ms. Welsch and Ms. Brungardt
agreed to do so. Mr. Ollendorff said it would be helpful if the different property owners
could reach some kind of agreement and submit that in writing to us.

Ms. Brot asked about all the sewers present there and if there was a drainage problem
in existence.

Mayor Adams explained that the green space is a covered sewer and many arterial
lines run into the main line there.

Page 6
