Robert Davoli, 7378 Milan Ave.
Mr. Davoli wanted to be sure the residents interests do not get lost. It is the citizens’
responsibility to oversee how the City functions, to make a call for action if something is not
right, and ask that you follow the laws of our City Charter and State. Mr. Davoli offered
suggestions for the youth as:

developing a youth organization on Olive Blvd. as a means to generate after school
jobs and other activities for the high school students

calling other youth organizations locally and out-of-state to see where their funds
come from and how they set up a viable and successful program

involving the school district

talking to the churches and United Way for ideas

inviting trouble youths to come to City Hall after school under their guidance

volunteer programs as in assisting at the Humane Society
Mr. Davoli said Coca-Cola sponsors a boys and girls club called Triple Play which helps
increase kids physical activities, teaches smart nutritional choices and strengthens their
character. If a youth program is to be successful it will need volunteer mentors and will not
cost any money to begin to organize them. None of which would cost $100,000 but rather a
commitment on the adult population to work with the youth. He asked if Council has looked
into any of these programs and how they could fit their goals. Mr. Davoli said that instead of
taking $100,000 from the Economic Development Tax, develop Olive so their might be jobs
for the older youth and a youth program that might acquire skills and attitudes with the help
of mentors so they might join in on the economic growth. He stated that the City is also
taking money from struggling families by inflated prices for refuse, apartment fees, higher
building code violations, and a new 10 percent late fee for trash services.

5.
Continuation of discussion on City/School District Task Force
Mr. Price stated that there is currently a task force project between the school district and
the City that is in effect now. He said that any one wanting to help, there will be a meeting
th
November 4, estimated time to be 6:30 p.m. at the McNair Administration Building but to
check back with the City Manger on the time. This meeting is for the purpose of soliciting
individuals to help the young. Mr. Price encouraged participation in building a strong
coalition between the City and the School District. He asked the City Clerk to post the
meeting notice.

J.
