Session 1730, Minutes
August 17, 1998

Ollendorff said that Mr. Montgomery had asked to meet with the residents and they
wrote him back that they remained opposed and would not meet with him.

Mr. Sharpe clarified with Mr. Ollendorff that the neighbors are still opposed to a tavern
in their neighborhood. Mr. Ollendorff replied that he was correct.

Ms. Lula Dempsey, 6815 Roberts, stated several reasons why she and her neighbors
did not wish to have a tavern in their neighborhood. She wanted to reiterate that she
and her neighbors' position had not changed.

Ms. Mary Buchanan, 6816 Roberts, said that she and Ms. Dempsey had been accused
of forging people's signatures on their petition. Ms. Buchanan said that she and Ms.
Dempsey did not forge signatures and that more likely these people had just changed
their minds, She stated that they are senior citizens and they do not want a tavern in
their neighborhood.

Mr. Anthony Montgomery, 1255 Ferguson, said that he has heard from people in the
neighborhood that they did not sign the petition that Ms. Dempsey and Ms. Buchanan
handled. He believes that Ms. Dempsey has a personal vendetta against him.

Mayor Adams asked Council if they wished to hold a public hearing on this issue.

Mr. Lieberman moved to deny access to a public hearing for the purpose of reviewing
the liquor license application. Mr. Sharpe seconded the motion, with all members of
Council voting Aye, except Mr. Wagner who voted Nay.

Mr. Schoomer asked if this was also a denial of the application. Mayor Adams said that
was correct.

PERSONNEL REPORT:

Mayor Adams noted receipt of the personnel report for the week ending August 14,
1998.

CITY CLERK'S DOCKET:

BILLS FOR INTRODUCTION (5 BILLS):

1. A bill was introduced by Mr. Schoomer, entitled:
