for their significant team contribution at Ruth Park Golf Course. Throughout the year, <br />they have transformed the course with multiple construction projects in addition to their <br />regular maintenance responsibility. Their work in creating a driving range, establishing <br />wildlife habitat, designing and implementing cart systems and developing greens and <br />new tees has transformed the golf course. The most frequent compliments heard about <br />the golf course have related to its condition, which is a direct result of their hard work. <br />To think that Don and Ken maintain these 93.5 acres of specialized turf with a third less <br />staff is an accomplishment worthy of great recognition. Think about letting them know <br />you admire their work by going out to play a round of golf this spring or simply dropping <br />them a note to celebrate! <br />Much thanks to the employee committee for reviewing all of the worthy departmental <br />customer service awards <br />nominees who also received this year. His moving speech received <br />a standing ovation as he expressed his appreciation for the employees and their <br />commitment to the City. A copy of his speech is attached. Thank you to U-City in Bloom <br />for the beautiful holiday party decorations and to HR and Admin staff for putting together <br />the event. <br />Congratulations to Director Nancy MacCartney for writing another successful Municipal <br />Flynn Park tennis <br />Park Grant. We were awarded $283,403 for the reconstruction of <br />courts. <br /> The project will proceed this summer and require a $22,597 match from city <br />funds, which are already budgeted, and $34,000 partner match from the School District. <br />Since the inception of the grant program ten years ago, we received seven grants <br />totaling $1,435,903 and provided $232,212 in local match funding. <br />The County completed a pedestrian crossing assessment after receiving numerous <br />unsafe crossing at 8101 Delmar Blvd <br />complaints regarding an . The County will move <br />forward with parking restrictions roughly 100 feet at and around Young Israel to <br />enhance the safety at the pedestrian crosswalk at that location.
