Trainings in the various competency areas are necessary to building up the
skill base of the students who are part of the program. These trainings help give
students skills they need to compete in the work place after they leave U City Job
Corps.
The Youth Job Corp Program will employ a Youth Coordinator. The Youth
Coordinator position is part time and pays $20,000/year. This equates to a 25 hour
work week at $15.39 an hour.
Responsibilities of Youth Coordinator:
16 hrs/wk:
Working with Job Teams
8 hours/wk:
- project planning meetings with parks/rec., public works, and others
- planning work projects and team building meeting for the teams
- plan/coordinate specific job skills trainings
- recruit and coordinate volunteers to help oversee student participants
1 hour/week:
Youth coordinator must plan/lead team building activities with each group once a week.
This time will be used by groups to create additional team bonding that will help build
interpersonal relationships and help members learn and utilize team work/cooperation
skills. Participants must attend these team building sessions. These activities could
include team building initiatives from Project Adventure or other experiential/team
building experts.
Youth Coordinator is responsible for recruiting volunteers to help lead students as the
program grows beyond the supervising capacity of 1 or 2 people. This would allow
several teams to work on any given day. Having teams work together on larger tasks
and creating teams of larger team sizes will allow for growth without a large number of
volunteers. These volunteers will be essential in order to make the programming
successful.
Student Participants:
No eligibility requirements in order to participate (such as low income, no record, etc)
however program would be targeted for students living within University City under the
age of 19.
Expectations:
-Be Punctual
-Good Work Attendance
*call out when sick, emergency, etc. with advance notice (morning of)
- No Drug/Alcohol use
- Wear appropriate work clothes
