Regular meeting <br />May 22, 2006 <br /> <br /> <br />The Public Hearing was closed at 8:05 p.m. <br /> <br />Ms. Brot thanked all for coming but stated that as a Councilmember she has an obligation <br />to uphold the oath that she took, to the Federal Constitution and the First Amendment. <br />Ms. Brot stated that she started the process of changing the sign ordinance to make it <br />Constitutional, two and a half years ago, including two visits with the Plan Commission <br />and several public hearings: Mr. Brot cited several delays which had occurred in this <br />process. She provided the City Clerk, for the-record, a copy of Richmond Heights’ sign <br />ordinance. Ms. Brot also submitted for the record, a letter from a former Councilmember, <br />Shelley Welsch, favoring the new political sign ordinance as the right step to take. <br /> <br />Discussion continued with Councilmembers as to the process of this bill. <br /> <br />Mayor Adams stated that this bill should be sent back to the Plan Commission to look at <br />what size signs are and reinvent the size and shapes which all signs should be. <br /> <br />Mr. Glickert agreed that the bill should go back to the Planning Commission for study. <br /> <br /> <br />AGENDA ITEM # 7 — Wellesley Avenue Vacating Public Hearing <br /> <br />Mr. Ollendorff requested setting the Public Hearing date for June 5, 2006 for University <br />City to vacate unopened and unpaved Wellesley Avenue from Kingsbury north to a point <br />100 feet north of Washington and consisting of a strip of land 30 feet in width west of <br />University Heights #3 and at the east edge of University Hills. <br /> <br />Mr. Price moved for approval and was seconded by Ms. Brungardt. The motion was <br />accepted unanimously. <br /> <br />Mayor Adams requested that all the trustees of both subdivisions were notified of the <br />Public Hearing and all the residents affected by this would be notified. <br /> <br />PUBLIC COMMENT: <br />Deb Carlin, 7132 Washington <br />Ms. Carlin requested a survey of the location of property lines. She asked that this be <br />done before the Public Hearing so all the property owners understood where all property <br />lines are. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />AGENDA ITEM #8 — Public Hearing Date on Vacating 7500 Drexel-Ahern Alley <br /> <br />Mr. Ollendorff requested setting the Public Hearing date for June 5, 2006 for University <br />City to vacate some or all of an unpaved and unopened public alley right-of-way twelve <br />feet wide located north of the 7500 block of Drexel and south of the 7500 block of Ahern. <br /> <br />Mr. Sharpe Jr. moved for adoption and was seconded by Mr. Price.
