Began shut-off procedures, working through the city one route at a time.
Sent shut-off notices providing for 30-day period to pay or requirement to make
payment arrangements.
Discontinued service to those not responding to the shut-off notice
Identified and corrected billing errors throughout process (vacant lots, incorrect
billing addresses, etc.)
Excessive trash build-up on sites has not occurred.
Approximately $650,000 has been received from the delinquent bills, with some
left to receive through payment agreements.
The City will continue working with those residents without service to assure compliance
with appropriate disposal methods and on payment plans to regain service.
Leaking was reported at the Delmar parking structure
last week. We had similar
problems with the structure in 2001 and remedial action was taken at that time. The City
contacted the consultants and engineers that worked to resolve the problem in 2001
and those professionals met at the site on Wednesday to begin evaluating the current
problem. All believe it was due to the recent record cold spell. Council will be updated
as information becomes available.
